Mackenzie’s acting is so good. His ability to play the insecurity and awkwardness of Gareth is incredible. Take a moment to try and replicate what he does without just looking like an awkward actor who can’t act. It’s actually a really difficult behaviour to act out and pull off so naturally.

a subtle thing I have noticed about the office is that every character is dislikeable in their own way. there are the obvious clowns (david, gareth, keith etc) who are unpleasant on the surface, but the others are quite off putting in more subtle ways. tim - clearly gets a kick out winding up gareth, to the point where it is actually bullying and indicative of an inferiority complex, possibly rooting from his unsuccessful life outside the office. dawn - causes tim a lot of unnecessary grief by staying in a relationship with someone she obviously doesnt like and strings him along for years before finally ending it with lee, when really she should have done it much sooner neil - not easy to notice but he clearly enjoys making david feel small, and often unnecessarily asserts his authority over david, hes a very subtle bully. rachel- as you said is very pushy and seems potentially quite aggressive. she also seems pushy with tim to move the relationship at an uncomfortable pace. the swindon office workers - are all quite slimy and deceitful. they seem nice enough on the surface but are actually really quite slippery as they often plot behind davids back. like when they gave him the nickname or reported him to jennifer. they have no respect for david yet they hide it from his face.
@elliotgregory33563 жыл бұрын
@@alexhamer8787 Excellent critical analysis of the characters. Personally I do think at times Tim does cross the ",bully" line. The only bit I slightly disagree with is Dawn and Lees relationship and her stringing Tim along. She's clearly unhappy but trapped, as much by external circumstances such as family pressure etc, but there is a genuine connection. It's not easy leaving an unhappy relationship and I do think that they nailed it with her performance. But everything else you said in my opinion is spot on.
