I have a humminbird and it's done the same thing. So it's not only Garmin that does it. Nice job covering the basics.

I am sure it happens with them all at some point....my Humminbirds like to not have the GPS come up always on startup....so they all have their quirks.

A+ on your videos man. One other way to fix this at least on my striker 4 plus, as long as it is powered on just push the power button multiple times. Dont hold it down like for power on/off but quick pushes, and it functions like a brightness button. Found it on my phone in an online garmin manual somewhere when this happened to me out on the water. 1 cast 1 fish rock on, and thanks for everything!

Quick question my screen works well on menu and other settings, but when I go to traditional settings, the screen shows blue on bottom portions of sonar. Does this mean my transducer is damaged? I have some scuffs and dings on it. Would appreciate your help. Thanks

That does not seem right...so try these steps. Check your transducer cable pins to ensure non are broke or bent...next try a factory reset on the fish finder, you may have a setting messed up....if that does not work, yes the transducer could be damaged...transducers do not like to be scraped up or with dings in them.

So...any idea why my Garmin 4Plus CV won't power on? I've checked, checked and double checked and have verified that I have power to the wires. I've checked the fuse link and it's good. BUT...When I tap the power button...NOTHING HAPPENS! No beep, No light, No anything?

Double check all the pins on the power cord, also be very sure the battery is charged. I have seen bad batteries sit on a charger for days and never take a charge.

Same problem. Have 13.1V at the battery cable pins but unit won't power up. Worked perfectly one day. Two days later it's dead right as ice fishing is starting up.

@@RonMTube got mine going, seems the connections that you put on battery terminals have to be super clean cleaned with wire brush and works fine,see how you get on

Garmin Stryker 4. Tried this method several times - but still black screen! Get all the 'beeps etc' so cables do not appear to be the issue. You put out another video with other suggestions but I cannot locate it. Please help!

Other option is a factory reset, but it helps see the screen. This tends to be the best method to get the screen back in view

Did not work for me. But I did find another You Tube Short on the fix. Same as yours but two more steps. Hit the power button then WAIT until the Garmin logo turns off. Then hit the power button AGAIN. then the rest of your procedure. Now I have my screen back.

Mine turns on and then screen goes black after 30-45 seconds! I’ll have to try this tomorrow. Hope that solves it, other than that, it’s been the best $60 spent! Purchased from someone who no longer decided to use (new)

I like Garmin's ease of use and simplicity, but all 5 of the units I've owned go into "black mode" too often. Today one went beyond that wouldn't start at all. Less than 6 months old. I won't buy another one. Nothing like heading out for a day of fishing and then finding out , on the water, that your sonar isn't going to work today.

Only think I hate about mine the connections are cheap it’s doesn’t come on all the time it’s so hit or miss it just on a small jon boat ,I had the same issue with the backlight the cord is the biggest issue and should be addressed especially at the connection site

I just hit the power button twice ..it cycles through 10% 100% and 90% with each power button press..screwed me up the first time but that's how I do it

I had the same problem on my last trip out. Couldn’t use my fish finder the whole day. I finally googled blank screen and that’s when I learned to toggle the power button, quick fix.
