Garmin Xero C1 Pro positioning test

There is a reason Garmin has a diagram of the Xero placement. Im sure within there extensive testing they found the location they say to place it is the best and most accurate.

I've always set up the device within the parameters shown on the screen. It's nice to see that there is quite a lot of leeway on the positioning. Thanks for checking that out, interesting. I guess setting up the gun and the garmin and not moving either through the number of sessions is best. I reckon a guy could make a jig to position the gun stand and the garmin for accuracy over different range days. Had to write down your measurements and convert them to imperial to get my brain to understand, lol.

I'm glad it's useful for you. As far as I understand, it keeps track of it's position relative to the muzzle for every shot. So there should be flexibility to move around in the 1x1 meter envelope (I think).

I ordered one on 10/19/23. Garmin website said available to ship in 2-3 days. Charged my credit card immediately. Now they say cannot ship for at least 6 weeks. Will not reverse credit card charge until it ships. Just so you know…

Some others have tested and found that if you put it out past the recommended distances you will find that it picks up shot and gives speed but it is not accurate as they moved it around and compared its results to lab radar.

The LabRadar is currently on sale at Midway for $500…but the form factor of the Garmin is amazing!

And the Garmin picks up every shot. Labradar is so picky and misses too many shots to be worth buying now that the Garmin is available.

Do you know if it works with a muzzle break? The lab radar readings get messed up by them, you have to place it to the front of the muzzle.

I have not tested it with a muzzle brake. According to specs it should be no problem.

It will detect shot up to 1 meter behind the muzzle. Based on a very small sample, I found indications that both accuracy and precision degrades in some seemingly random positions. See research.baso.dk/python/garmin_xero_c1_placement.html
