Toppings are for tourists. Liege Waffles already have sugar pearls inside, so no need to add anything really. Brussels Waffles are rectangular without sugar inside, so we usually just add some powder sugar on top. Occasionally people may top with cream, ice cream or chocolate, but that's less common.

I have never thought to heat up the cold wafels, i've lived in Belgium for 17years! Those suzy belgian waffels are from Liege (french name for luik) usually you get them freshly made hot covered in cream chocolate strawberries- so basically anything sweet. There are Brussels waffels aswell but the luik's ( said 'like' with a cork accent) are the ones you we see more often. gerookt/ fume is smoked. I love lays pickles, Oh and everything has to be labelled in dutch and French. Belgian Dutch is called flemish or formally as Nederlands. Belgian here: if you're going to distinguish between French and Walloon, Walloon is the only french that's spoken here. Same for Dutch and Flemish; only Flemish. French and Walloon are the same language, as are Flemish and Dutch. They just use some different words and have different accents, like England English and Scotland English. We understand eachother. It's the exact same language.
