If Mephiles somehow got out or was written back into the story I can see him having an existential crisis. He's free for the first time in what feels like forever, but has no purpose as Iblis is likely forever out of reach. So I can honestly imagine him taking on a role similar to Happy Chaos from Guilty Gear. An immensely powerfull, virtually immortal, being that is just happy to exist again. Still an antagonistic force, but one that takes in a more neutral(?) approach, as he literally has nothing but time on his hands.

Iblis wasn’t very far away actually. All Mephiles had to do was escape from Shadow (good luck to him on that) and then go to Sonic’s side of White Space and then go to Crisis City where Iblis was but I’m sure he had no idea what was even happening to get a plan together fast enough

I think it would be pretty interesting if, after Mephiles’ boss if you stand idle for a solid minute, perhaps Shadow’s regular shadow slowly morphs into the shape of Mephiles? Maybe once it fully morph, you could see a pair of glowing red eyes appear on the shade for just a moment but it quickly turns back to normal the moment you start moving. It would be a very subtle piece of foreshadowing that people would likely only notice upon replays

I'm not him but I wrote a little script about Silver's involvement in the form of an extra section in Shadow Generations (because Silver needs more screentime if Shadow and Metal got it, and where's the Shadow the Hedgehog 2005 level?). Basically Shadow already knows that there's more than one Sonic (and is aware of time shenanigans), and encourages Silver to make sure it's the right one after receiving the white Chaos Emerald for him.

My wish for the game was for every villain to be defeated except for Mephiles, having him slip through the cracks and escape into the time stream. Lose to Shadow yeah, but do a mwahaha and bail right before he goes down for good. Don't even bring him back in the same game, only acknowledge it in open-zone dialogue. That way he's a set-up now, a looming threat that we know can bark and bite, just out there somewhere in the timeline waiting for his moment to rise. It's such a huge shame they didn't go that route.

Mephiles could also of made a deal with dr.eggman and classic eggman where he would get them out of white space if they traveled to the past and stopped sonic and Elise from erasing him from the timeline, and they probably would agree to do it since it could be the only way out of white space and they don’t remember mephiles.

I mean, he _did_ survive... he just couldn't assert his exisrence due to his petty grudge against Shadow. Shouldve fucked off after things started going south and laid low until he cam sneak back into the timeline. He can still come back, but it would likely be the next time an entity specifically capable of erasing time crops up. That said, Time Eater was destroyed after it was mechanized by Eggman, but it wasn't _erased._ Its likely a fixed point in time and cant be truly defeated unless it was wiped out in all time periods it existed like Solaris was

Now I'm wondering how Mephiles would react to Disaster the Cat, a villain oc based on Proto-Blaze. Think, Mephiles but applied to the Sol Emeralds' history and surprisingly friendly rather than maniacal, like the Collector in Aurora. If she had a theme, it'd be called Stained Shadows, referencing her shadowy appearance and her blue fire, which is typically hotter, and also the actual stained shadows thing that happened with those particular nukes and I think pompei? I haven't written the fic yet, but I imagine it'd start with Marine calling Blaze with Jeweled Septer. Blaze asks what's wrong and Marine's response; "The horizon's on fire!"

Theyre definitely planning something involving him, Silver and 06 (at least somewhat). All the random appearances and name drops and Ian confirming lore surrounding 06 (Iblis sealed in Blaze in the current timeline, Solaris apparently being stronger than The End) Mephs new boss fight feels like it was specifically placed as a surprise and a teaser, with interesting dialogue from Mephiles and he's very much still alive. I think it's leading into either A silver game or B an 06 remake, which the producer mentioned he'd like to work on.

I suppose the craziest thing is that Mephiles is just a half baked side effect of a failed lab experiment, so he wasn't even supposed to exist to begin with. He literally just gained sentience after an explosion and got cornered by some guy (Shadow) while trying to find his way out of a labyrinth of cold metal hallways underwater. He literally reacted with an uncharacteristically startled tone the first time Shadow seals him away in 06, indicating that his first few minutes of sentience was probably the most terrifying experience he's ever had and decided to make that everyone else's problem. We don't even know if baseline Mephiles from the first instance of his existence (the first time he was created) was even intent on destruction or was just reacting like a cornered animal. And then he just keeps getting dragged through getting sealed away and erased and revived again and again and again and again... Dude probably went insane. And, if we want to humor the idea that the Archie continuity was somewhat canon, then there's also that time he was an inmate in Zone Jail briefly, with a control collar latched around his neck and his powers nullified. I wanna know how he managed to get arrested, because THAT had to be quite a sight to witness. 👀

The phantom ruby creates illusions strong enough to have real effects, so if a fake sun crashes down on you it will do the same thing as the real sun does, and if it "teleports" someone their body will move there instantly, it's illusions are not real but they trick the universe itself to cause real effects

What if Shadow didn't break out of Eggman's facility. The Black Arms would invade and Sonic and friends would be left to defend the world without Shadow. Eggman could use Shadow's DNA to make more accurate Shadow androids to fight back against them as well. Also, it would be cool if you talked about how Sonic 06 would go without Shadow being there. He wouldn't save Sonic from Silver, for instance.

honestly i think that mephiles if he did survive would've gone back to the creation of the flame, to see what happened to it and when he sees the timeline remnants of o6 sonic and elise he jumps them like he did before undoing their work

what if mephilis catches on how the sol dimension is a mirror of the chaos dimension so he lies to blaze, making her think that hes the mirror version of shadow, to gain her trust

I think Mephiles will come back at some point. Sega is definitely going to make a movie with Silver, I don't think Sega will ever stop making movies because they are just too successful and I'm pretty sure they will use the events from 06 and not rivals. And Sega just revealed that they are interested in making a Sonic 06 remake and if they do it will probably be released the same year as the silver movie Just Like Sonic x Shadow Generations came out right before Sonic Movie 3
