Honestly, my favorite spin-off game (or at least, one of my favorites) would be Sega Sonic The Hedgehog (Arcade). I just find that game very charming and fun to play in order to get the highest score possible and beat your previous attempts. It's short and replayable. I also love the music in it and the sprite animations are so expressive and adorable.

There's a debate as to whether or not Shadow the Hedgehog counts as a spin-off. It was widely accepted as a main game like SA2 until Generations, where wikipedia upon hearing it didn't get a level moved it to the spin-off category. Frankly I think just because they added a gimmick or two doesn't change it as a mainline game, especially when the events are canon. Anyways my favorite spin-off is the first Sonic Riders. Good video btw.

Favourite Sonic's spin off's got to be either Sonic Battle. It's got to be the one I played the most and I clearly remember capping out the save timer to 99 something and it only counted seconds. Excluding I'm a big fan of fighting games and an even bigger fan of crappy fighting games with jank in general, Sonic Battle was pretty amazing on its own. It had returning characters from 3D games (including out beloved bird-saving robot Gamma. rip), a (shitty) story that took place in a weird dimension that is after Adventure 2 and before Advance 3 and the most awesome moveset customization ever and I wish any fighting game actually had that. But, most important of all, it gave us a ton of those sweet sweet Sonic Advance styled sprites that fan art recolorers love to ruin with their lack of taste and imagination. Edit: Are you running a Sonic 1 rom hack that makes it look like Sonic Mania? Link?
