I had an opportunity to train with Eduardo Telles many years ago. This is his octopus guard . I'm sure there are instructionals on youtube. I still use this often when I can't work to the underhook in half guard

I like that one and will switch with your 200% that you showed not too long ago. I get a lot of sweeps with the 200% Thank you

Nice format, thanks for sharing! BTW, the position is commonly referred to as "half octopus guard".

Lol yes I’ve heard of the term. Forgive me for not using it. Thanks for watching! 👍

No problem, just wanted to drop it for people who are interested in learning more about the position. Knowing the name is a huge help for starting research on it.

Is drill possible from full guard? Another great sequence
@TeachMeGrappling6 жыл бұрын
I don’t think it’s realistic from there but it’s possible. What makes half guard better is you have more weapons get coming down on their arm to take them out of position.

Right or wrong I would go for the toe-hold toward that left upper quarter instead of cross face..I’m not saying I would get it but I would like to see the scenario okay out...coach Bryan ??? What do you think??
@TeachMeGrappling4 жыл бұрын
Yep that’s a valid attack from there. Bottom player needs to always be aware and stay connected. If a grip is maintained, the toehold is very low percentage and leads to losing the top position. Still a good thought if the bottom player’s grip is broken.

10:54 could stay hooked with the opponents left foot (your left foot already had it..) and get "get rolled" :D ;)

I’m sorry, I don’t follow what you mean???

10:54 the girl could keep her left foot behind the knee and use the opponents motion to side control kimura, maybe im wrong?
@TeachMeGrappling6 жыл бұрын
From my point of view, that is what she did. She came on top and finished the Kimura in side control with her leg over the head. If she keeps her foot behind the knee she will end up in top half guard with a Kimura.
