Could Garth have won on the turn his Food chain was destroyed? In response to nature's claim tap Garth, make a Lotus, Tap bloom tender, floating wubrg, activate food chain exiling Garth. Let the stack resolve, recast Garth with the floating +lotus if needed. Activate Garth (who has haste from mass hysteria) casting Regrowth, recast food chain, Go infinite. Or am I missing something obvious that stops that?

I hate to point this out but Greg didn’t die at the end. If you notice, at 3:10 he accidentally took 2 damage from talisman instead of 1 damage, meaning he would’ve been at 5 life not 4.

I have been so hard on Garth because doing infinite things with him is so convoluted and not likely to get there, but could he just a really solid value commander? Trim the fat, no mass hysteria or food chain lines, and just go for max value? This game certainly has the gears turning, but I know this could also just be a really good showing for the deck.

If he's removed with a 1 mana spell when you tapped 5 to cast him then it's a huge setback. He'll never be top tier, and is fringe at best.

Left on longer than 6-7 turns, cEDH decks do crazy and sometimes self destructive things such as die from their own mana crypts, actually deck themselves unintentionally and now even die to deathrite shaman.

Is anyone going to point out that Garth doesn't allow you to bypass timing restrictions? Dante was not allowed to Regrowth in response and use the Mental Mistep. I assume Zack was casting silence for something important, so that likely changed the outcome of the game.

What’s the communities policy on revealing the opponent’s hand with Git Probe? Obviously you can’t lay down the cards for everyone to see, but stating what the cards are? Is it frowned upon or situational?

It's cEDH, you can do what you want. If you think it will improve your chances of winning (likely if hand is threatening) you should.

Well, Greg should be at 1 after both deathrites. Don't know why but he went to 38 after playing Tropical, Mana Crypt, Talisman and Thrasios. Talisman only pings for one. There was also at least one missed Vial Smasher trigger I think (on Curiosity cast?) and at least four missed Tithe triggers before the Peer into the Abyss (three from Sylvan Library, one from Curiosity).

To be fair it was so late in the game and Dante already had so much mana and card advantage from Thrassios there was no way to play around it. He could keep paying for it for the rest of the game and the only way to not feed it would be not to play at all. Don't feed the geese only works if it is turn 1-2 and they keep a risky hand hoping to draw into better cards.
