I saw Gary Clark Jr. perform live for the first time as the opener for the Foo Fighters in Memphis TN... and also had the honor to see him again as the headliner at the MInglewood Hall in Memphis a few years later. Good stuff y'all!!

I saw him live in September, he swapped out his guitars for every song. I'd never seen anyone do that before. He's humble on stage, doesn't even stand in the spotlight, he let his band get the spotlights. He gave his opening act Jackie Venson an hour long set. He rocks hard and is a class act. If you get the opportunity to see him, do yourself a favor and go!

Personally dont like comparing artists to anyone. While everyone is influenced by someone, every artist writes their own book. Every song, every lyric makes a chapter in that book. Just turn your headphones on, turn the world off, listen and enjoy. You like an artist for their particular skill set and explore from there. My 5 cents for what it's worth. Just saw Gary at RFK on July 4th with the Foo Fighters. First time I ever saw him live. Very awesome guitar player and he really wowed the audience with a very cool sound dynamic. I must say it took me back many years to when a raw distorted guitar and a soulful voice said it all.

Thank God for Gary Clark Jr. Great musician. I'd personally love to hear him do an entire harder blues rock album. I know ballads and other styles are popular, I'd just like to see his take on the heavier interpretations and style.
