Great demo, Jason! And a real beauty of a guitar. Btw. I also discovered Gary Moore when "Victims Of The Future" came out. My #1 fave Gary Moore album to this day. Nothing beats his 80s stuff. Would also like to add "Dirty Fingers" to the list of Gary Moore essentials! Keep on rockin' mate!

Jason, I have been playing guitar almost every day for 44 years. Gary Moore has been since the early 1980s, my favorite guitar player and this video is a great tribute to the Master of the Strings! Your spirit and passion shine so bright when it comes to Gary and the guitar you are playing. It was so cool to watch this video! I first heard Gary Moore with his Out On the Streets album and his playing with Thin Lizzy. But it was the Corridors of Power that sent my guitar soul into the stratosphere!. He was a fantastic guitar player as we all know. But his ability to compose timeless music in different styles was incredible. He had it all: technique, feel, dynamics, soul, restraint, composer and rocker! And we shall not forget the power and beauty of his vocals. Such an awesome video and guitar. Personally, I like his Fiesta Red Stratocaster and hard rock music period as my all time favorite. Victims of the Future, Corridors of Power, Out in the Fields and Tribute for Jimi. His power was simply incredible. Yes, I love the Peter Green Les Paul. But to me, this guitar is the holy grail. I thank you for an awe inspiring 14:12 minute video! And we don't underestimate your guitar playing. You are a very talented guitar player!!

John, you sir are a good man!! Thank you so much for the wonderful words. I'm really enjoying the outpouring of love for Gary in these comments. It's actually not something I had even thought about whilst making this presentation. You'll be happy to know there will be a follow up video coming to this sometime in the near future. Not sure when, but I have something to continue this with which has been green lighted. I LOVE the fact that you mentioned his vocals. There is no denying the shear power and strength of his amazing voice. Whether he was on lead vocals or singing harmonies he was always inspiring as a singer too. That so often gets overlooked. Thank you again for enjoying this video so much and for leaving such a great story on your love for OUR favourite Guitarist. Oh, and thank you for the compliment on my playing. I just feel rusty because I was much better in the past. Can't be good at everything I guess. Cheers, Jason

Jason, fine guitar playing from you. The John Cruz Tribute guitar is great. I also love the earlier Gary Moore rock era. I remember seeing him play in 1974 with John Hiesman's Colliseum playing his Les Paul into the most beaten up Marshall 50 watt amp. He was left alone on stage to do an epic 12 minute guitar solo which included everything from Hendrix to Bach. A wonderful player and a real humble man, Gary left his mark on us all.

He most certainly did Dave. I'm beyond envious that you got to see him LIVE and especially back in '74. I was 2 then & I NEVER got to see him live. He only came to Australia in 1978 with Thin Lizzy. Sadly for me he never came back after that.

I came here because I just watched the Phil X upload, great interview btw. I also saw the Alex Lifeson upload years back, which was pretty cool as well. Rush is my all-time favorite band since 1980, so Alex is at the top of list of great guitarist and very dear to my heart. I started playing drums because of Neil Peart during the 80's. Around 2010, I look up playing guitar and came across a kid playing "The Loner" on YT. Just loved the melody and that got me started on Gary Moore. Today Gary is my number one, just love everything about his playing, so I get where you're coming from. Another guy I love and study a lot is Frank Marino from Mahogany Rush. Gary and Frank are my go to players for the guitar rock and blues.

Tremendous Video on a favorite Rocker of mine! I'm a Bass player and of course in my early playing years Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy was one of many influence's of my early years playing...so not surprisingly I heard Gary Moore AND had the pleasure of seeing him play with Thin Lizzy who at the time opened a particular show for RUSH in the late 1970's!! Now....mind you I'm so JACKED UP after having heard and seen this show that I was truly at a loss for words...but I'm sure the Smile on My Mug said it all.....THANK YOU as always for Delivering The Goods. Your videos are like sitting down at the kitchen table and LQQKING through a treasure trove of Family Photos.....you just can't get enough!!!! Stuport, you NEVER cease to make me smile from ear to ear with your involvement in this channel. I can't even begin to tell you how jealous I am that you got to see Thin Lizzy open for RUSH!!! As you saw in the John Cruz interview he got to see Gary open for Rush in the 80's, but I'm sure he too will be blown away by the fact that you got to see Thin Lizzy & Rush play together. Your words of, "Your videos are like sitting down at the kitchen table and LQQKING through a treasure trove of Family Photos"... mate, compliments don't get any better than that. My recommendation for where to start would be either Run For Cover or Wild Frontier. All 5 of those albums are cool. Gary grew a LOT during the 8 years from 1981 (Corridors Of Power) to 1989 (After The War) and you can really hear the progression whilst listening to the albums.

Jason, greetings from Chicago, USA! I loved the creativity and energy of the video Excellent playing and, of course, what a great guitar. I must ask, however (not that it would have mattered one whit in selling the guitar, but still): Why no in-hand description of the feel, the weight, the playing experience? True, the tone is what matters most but I would have loved to hear about the other aspects of it. BTW, please be sure to check out Gary and Thin Lizzy on KZbin doing "Don't Believe a Word" on the old Brit TV show "Old Grey Whistle Test." He uses the old Peter Green Les Paul, not the Strat, but his tone and playing is literally phenomenal. Just a loud tube amp and some reverb.

Hey Anthony. I've seen a bunch of Gary's Old Grey Whistle Test footage from both Thin Lizzy & his solo stuff from the 80's including some stuff from around the Run For Cover period including a killer version of Military Man with Phil Lynott on it as well. You should look for that if you can find it. I recorded it from the TV to VHS back in the 80's. As for the in-hand description, I rarely do that because it's such a subjective thing. I can tell you that John Cruz would have made it exactly the same as Gary's to the point that if he was still with us even he barely would have been able to tell them apart blindfolded. John is just that good. However I do take your request onboard and I may well do a follow up because I've had requests for a few additional things on this Guitar. It is paid for & sold, but won't be getting picked up until June. See how I go depending on time. No promises. Cheers, Jason

I never knew Fender released a Gary Moore Tribute model. With only 60 being made, at the time, it's doubtful I would've had been able to afford 1.....even more so today! Maybe you can help me try to hunt down the WHITE STRAP he used on " Red House " when he played Fenders 50th Anniversary Concert. I just bought a brand new, 70th Anniversary model, of course in Fiesta Red, in honor of Gary. I've been searching for the White Strap sine before it arrived last Saturday. Needless to say....I'm definitely NOT DISAPPOINTED! If you could let me know how to buy one, I would really appreciate your help and time. Great Video and again, thank you for your time!! Take care, KK

gary moore is my guitar god too. I was a little kid from Hawaii in 1983 and my guitar teacher said who is your favorite guitar player. He almost fell on the floor and said "I've been teaching for 2 weeks (relocated from California)) and everyone said Van Halen" And I told him my second favorite guitar player was Michael Schenker...hahaha! EVH ROCKS too!

Cool story Kurtis. I've been lucky enough to meet Eddie (you can see this video on this channel), but sadly in all my years of loving Gary Moore I NEVER got to see him play. He only ever played in Australia in 1978 with Thin LIzzy. I was 6 at that time and he ever came back after that. As you can imagine that crushes me badly 💔 That said I'll never lose my love for his amazing playing whenever I listen to his raw conviction & stellar might that no one else has ever matched (well for me at least). Cheers, Jason

If you have the desire to have a look, you should also search on my channel for the interview I did at NAMM 2017 in January with John Cruz about his building of these guitars. He too is a HUGE Gary Moore fan. I'm sure you'll enjoy getting some inside insight from John the Master Builder as well.

I'm so sad to don' t have enough money to get this AWSOME guitar, the sound is the same that Gary had in '80 direct plug in his Marshall... it's incredible ! Life is really sheet... If a guy like Jason buy it ok, the strat will be like a wild horse but if it's a guy full of money who let this beauty in his case and in one of his great house, without playing... I hate that...Great demo Jason...one o the greatest Custom Shop no?...and even if it was not the case i'm so fan of my old friend Gary that I'd buy it anyway ...but she sounds like thunder...I m really disapointed... Anyway thanx a lot to share what I won't can do...open the box , and the case etc...the case is a beauty too I own the same for an Ibanez JS Anniversary. Impossible to break it ! more to be beautiful...If John Cruz was a friend of mine ! I ll ask him to get one !!!! How much coast this beauty?...yes I love so strong hurting myself...

Hello Patrice. The Guitar was expensive. There is no question of that, but it really is a thing of true beauty. Out of respect for the customer who purchased it I am not going to say the price I am sorry. However I can tell you he is also a huge fan of Gary Moore so it is going to someone who will really love the guitar the right way. And congratulations on your JS Anniversary. That is also a beautiful guitar. Cheers, Jason

Hello Jason, Don't believe my words are a demonstration of jalousy or another bad feeling !!! Not at all because if I had to talck about all the great guitar I missed It will be too on,g...like some of great part of guitar layer I believe but I own some beautiful so I m not really sad at all ! I t was just a way of joking...I knew thus guitar is a monster beacause a friend of mine has the chance to get one in France...and I could play it...So don't believe I'ma bad person...not at all !...for this time...I loved your vid, if all vid could be as good and made by real guitar player...I'm sure you spent lime me so many hours lookind the awsome VHS "Emerald Aisle" !!!...but I n this concert do Gary used his red strat?...I'm not sure...I llok at the vid where you have the awsome chance to play with original Gary's Strat...first, why is there 'Pink" to describe the colour...I'm ok with this point because I'm a great Mark Knopfler fan too and like Hank Marvin or Chris Rea and all these fantastic musicien have , in their youn youtful all have the dream to get a red strat and the colour described was Salmon red or Fiesta Red...I onw a Frender Strat 56 NOS Fista Red with gold hardware and fiesta an salmon are the same colour ...like a red strat stayed 20 years on sunny day...the colour faded and t s awsome...Just one question , an idiot question...what did you feel before, on the moment and after having playong Gary's Strat?...Like you see it's really idiot but all fa have this kind of question in a corner of his head...and the Strat is always own to Gary's familly?..I hope !!!...I d like to know a lats thing and you re athe bets guy to have te answer, Gary played blues on a Dobro, I' always wanted wich it was and one day I bought an Ozark Dobro and my friend form music shop told me" You buy this guitar because of Gary Moore, I said no why? and he told me Gary played on this Ozark Dobro, he even bought it in a music shop in the street where he lived"...do you know if it's real?...I have a little little pic on the net where Gary has a Dobro on stage and it seems really like mine...not all silver but gold and silver...Sorry for this soooo long message...For the strat price I know it, my friend bought it in Paris for 12500 euro...Have a great day, take care, cheers, Patrice...

The one I played in this video is a Custom Shop built by Fender Master Builder, John Cruz. This is not Gary's original one. However, it was great to play, but very different to my personal guitars & other Strats I have played. The neck is pretty big & the strings are heavy. It was still fun & the tone was magnificent. Sorry to say I have no idea about the dobro story. Cheers!

I had to use a Marshall for this video. After all that's what Gary used for a very large majority of his career. I also had an old 1980's Ibanez Tube Screamer plugged in as well. I do know that a whole bunch of Gary's Guitars were sold at auction a year or 2 ago. Chances are they were sold off then if not earlier. They were very cool for sure. I remember he used them on the Wild Frontier tour. I think I confused that with the '61 Red Strat when I said about him bringing that back out in this video. It's hard to get everything correct when I'm going purely from memory in these videos. Cheers, Jason

Yeah I think Gary used to use some sold old Marshal Bass amps that were killer, the tone he got out of those Charvel guitars with EMG's is just unheard of these days, you cannot get that tone out of modern amps. I've never heard anything like that with EMG's before.
@JasonMcNamara
@JasonMcNamara 7 жыл бұрын
Gary's tone (like most of the greats) was all in his hands. Same goes with Steve Vai, Nuno Bettencourt, Eddie Van Halen, David Gilmour, Billy Gibbons and the list goes on & on & on & on. Gary also used Gallien Kruger (250ML's if I'm not mistaken) back during the Run For Cover era plugged into Marshall cabs. He was simply the master in my eyes. I think in yours too 😁

So do I, but these days I'm just too busy with a lot of other things going on. Guitar practice time has taken a major back seat. In regards to my reference of playing so much better back 4 or 5 years ago, I was playing 6 nights a week in bands back then. Last year for example I only played 2 shows in the whole of 2016. So far in 2017, not a single show. Other priorities have taken up my time such as making videos. Sure you weren't to know that until now, however that's exactly why writing comments like your original one you deleted are not cool. You just never know anyone's situation until you ask. Cheers!
