Gary Moore is at the top of my list of greatest guitar player I've ever heard. The soul he plays with is second to none. He's a very inspiring player. The best live performance I've every seen by any guitar player on youtube is 'The Messiah will Come Again'. His bag when it come guitar proficiency is vast and on full display, if you get around to checking out the song.

What a great reaction, guys. Gary (RIP) was truly one of the greatest rock guitarists ever to walk the earth. He was a protégé of Peter Green and his feel and touch are hard to better. Also check out his jazz fusion chops with Colosseum II. Not to mention his own mega track, The Loner, another instrumental that has some of the most amazing high bent notes ever heard.

Gary Moore was also in a short lived power trio called BBM for Baker Bruce Moore as in Ginger Baker on drums and Jack Bruce on bass and vocals both of whom were originally in Cream with Eric Capton.

Old-timers like Albert Collins and Albert King used to bust on Gary Moore for being so virtuosic in his playing. They told him he should simplify and stop playing so many notes. (So he was holding a lot back on this track.) The fact is he was playing so many notes because he was that talented, but they couldn't handle it. They didn't want him to show them up since they had a history going back to the 1930s being the Blues Masters. Then you have Gary Moore all of these decades later showing them up with his incredible speed chops and even deeper feeling. Such a legend. RIP Gary Moore.

Listen to his version of Hey Joe, The Messiah Will Come Again, In the Heat of Battle, Roy's Bluz: Roy was one of the best rock and blues guitarists of our time and known as the master of the Telecaster. He was often called “the world’s best unknown guitarist.” Guitar Player magazine has rated him as having one of the “50 Greatest Tones of All Time.” Read any Roy Buchanan bio, and you will find quoted praises from Jeff Beck, "I wish I had his talent", Gary Moore (who adored him and played The Messiah as a homage to him), SRV ("I have every record he's ever made, and still can't figure it out") some of the best guitar slingers that have walked this planet all say the same thing. Actually there are 2 Gary Moores - the one for the quiet moments and the one for the loud moments - I like them both. If I want quiet I play the Still Got the Blues LP, if I want loud I listen to We Want Moore - Live - Many great tracks with Murder in the skies being my favourite. Very sad, what he's singing about - the Russians shooting a Korean passenger plane with over 260 victims in 1983 - but with awesome guitar playing by Gary, I like, when I hear his fingers sliding over the strings 🤘

Second time i saw Gary live he did The Messiah Will Come Again as the last encore and what a encore! He played with lots of improvisation and even though it was 33(!) years ago i still remember it like it was yesterday. Gary did 4 songs, 3 his own 1 TWCA, that are kinda "cousins"! Besides TMWC it's Pariesienne Walkways, Spanish Guitar and Nothing's the Same. So yes it seems like Roy Buchanan had quite the influence on Gary.

Hi guys, love Gary Moore. The 1st solo album I bought by him was "Victims of the Future" in '83, and what an album that is. If you want emotion then even way back then, with a ballad called "Empty Rooms" from that album, Gary really gets to you with his playing. I love the fact that he learned to play guitar with his strings so tight he could barely bend them ... then after years of practice he got his guitar tuned to a reasonable strength and from then on could bend further than any other guitarist, so when he bends to hit those high notes ... he really makes it cry and you along with it. Actually watching Gary put his heart and soul into his music is also an experience. Gary Moore played with Greg Lake of ELP. Greg's first 2 solo albums had him with him.

After Thin Lizzy, Moore went in a hard rock direction for a while, before returning to his blues roots. He played with former Cream members Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker for a while in B.B.M., and you can see he and Bruce playing Cream material on KZbin with Gary Husband on drums. There's also a DVD of a concert he did using a Stratocaster, which was a Jimi Hendrix tribute.

Highly underrated, no one reacts to these Gary songs, i also advise you to listen to 'seperate ways' live version, and if you really feel like it there is footage of his last ever concert, noticably a he had a very hard time performing, but his guitar work is absolutely insane there.

If you check out “back on the streets” Album, a great version of Lizzy’s Don’t believe a word by Gary with Phil Lynott on the track starts really slow with Phil on Bass and progresses into a full blown rock track, you will love it 😊

There is a lot to say about Gary Moore. But then again not. Because he lets his guitar speak to you. The only thought that pops up is if that guitar had to go to the IC considering all the bending and the force that comes with that. Thank you for another great reaction and if you like. I agree with Cary with the sensation that The Prophet is kind of a tribute to Roy Buchanan’s The Messiah will come again which he recorded on his last rock album After the war in 1989, but majestically played it in his Still got the Blues tour in 1990, definitely a must listen! Gary was influenced by many guitarists, so he definitely “took” something from Jeff Beck as well, whom he knew and liked a lot as well. That’s why you may hear something that’s close to Jeff, but also Jimi Hendrix and a lot of blues guitarists. I always say that with Gary it’s the other way around when they say the guitar is often the extension of the guitarist, with Gary it definitely was that HE was the extension of the guitar and you can see it, and yes also hear it, in every song he played. When you do a live, and video, performance of him you will understand it! And there are even better examples as Still got the Blues, namely Separate Ways in 1992, Parisienne Walkways in 2010, Empty Rooms in 1987 and so on and on…

It's Gary Moore, so the guitar playing is great, but it's not a track I would have chosen. For some of us who followed Gary's rock career in the 1980's, Still Got the Blues was an ending rather than a beginning. I don't think any recording can convey the intensity Gary brought to the live stage. He was certainly the loudest guitar player I've ever witnessed. The live video of The Messiah Will Come Again is hard to match, or the performance of Red House from the Strat Pack concert. His live version of Shapes of Things, more Jeff Beck homage, is also spectacular.

I agree my favorite Gary era is the '80s although i love this song. Saw him live 1989 the After the War tour which he claimed would be last time he would do hardrock a promise it turned out he couldn't keep. Then i saw him 1990 when he played blues along with Albert Collins. On the second concert he did a killer version of The Messiah Will Come Again.

​@@danielolson5378 Neil's voice was also extremely similar to Gary's, which worked so well because in the 80s, Gary didn't want to sing all the way through. But since Neil could play rhythm guitar and keyboards, he wasn't just standing around on stage during instrumentals or the tracks that Gary sang himself like Charlie Huhn and John Sloman before him. On *We Want Moore*, it's a fun exercise and try to pick out which vocal parts Gary did and which Neil did. After a while it becomes clear, but you really have to pay attention!

Gary Moore in the studio and Gary Moore live is two different animals. As many have stated, do "The Messiah will come again" live from Montreux jazz festival. And if you're doing "Still got the blues", do the live version. Saw him loads of times live. Best guitarist to ever walked the earth. Always gave 100 pst and then some.

Eric Clapton did "Still Got the Blues" as a tribute, so that may be what Lex has heard. You should definitely hear a cross-section of his work. "The Prophet" is a good track to introduce Gary, but his versatility can't really be understood until you've heard several of his albums - from the jazz rock of the 70s to the very heavy rock of the 80s (including duets with Ozzy Osbourne, Phil Lynott and Glenn Hughes) to the raw blues of his later years (even doing Son House's "Sundown" as a solo track). The real wild card is "Dark Days in Paradise", an album full of surprises, and *if ever an album deserved a full series of reaction vids, it's that one*. You haven't lived until you've heard his singing and playing on "Like Angels" and "Where Did We Go Wrong", not to mention the incredible interplay with Guy Pratt on "What Are We Here For". He was really a total artist. I think "The Prophet" was meant as a sort of sequel to "The Messiah Will Come Again", the Roy Buchanan instrumental that Gary did in 1989 and then played on tour in 1990 (with Don Airey on keys in both cases) - that video is just stupendous. He's really getting somewhere I've hardly seen or heard anyone ever go. Transcendental, devastating stuff. And before that, there was "The Loner", originally from a Cozy Powell record and played by Clem Clempson - once an homage to Jeff Beck - but Gary sure made it his own! Live versions go up to 20 minutes.

He really gets to let loose on his live videos, and sometimes throws some old Jeff Beck licks into his solos. He was influenced a lot by Roy Buchanan, and original Fleetwood Mac guitarist Peter Green. He bought Peter Green's Les Paul, now owned by Kirk Hammett. Check out Roy Buchanan's "The Messiah Will Come Again", which Gary Moore covers, for an example of someone who's volume swells influenced Beck, Moore, and others.

Gary was friends with George Harrison and played Royal Albert Hall shows as backing guitar with him. George also enlisted Gary to play on the Traveling Wilburys second album for some guitar fills. Another great player gone too soon.

Glad you did some GM. Lots his solo stuff from late 80s on is so good. The emotion just drips from his guitar. After this your ready for ‘The Messiah Will Come Again'. By the way Still Got The Blues is Gary's song but what I didn't know until I did some searching is that . Moore was ordered to pay Jürgen Winter, leader of Jud's Gallery, an undisclosed amount in damages from a German Court. It ruled that the guitar solo on the song was plagiarized from a 1974 instrumental recording called "Nordrach" (named after Nordrach, a small river in the central Black Forest) by the German progressive rock band Jud's Gallery from Offenburg.

When you listen to "Still Got the Blues", please listen to the version from Gary's 'Blues Alive' album from 1993; to many, it is THE definitive version (there is also a video of the performance--shot in a small club--on YT: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqCac6qYocatoLM ) . Primarily a keyboardist, I like to play guitar to give myself a creative break from the black and whites, as the approach to the 2 instruments are different yet so complimentary. I first heard Gary with Colosseum II back in the '70's, but when he released 'Still Got the Blues', I found my guitar tone by emulating him. He was such a fabulous artist (RIP) Thank you for your videos.

And i'm too sensitive for this cruelty mankind all over the world. Its heart breaking for me to see how animals are treaten, abused, missused, tortured and killed, for peoples entertainment, by sick 'Traditions' (..Toro, ole' ), in the name of Sport and even just for fun. Just look at those hypocrites who celebrate rescue dogs as heros. Cause they safe peoples life by founding them after Earthquakes.
