When you have minutes to spare listen to this Military Man and take note of the words that Phil wrote, it will stop you dead in your tracks. this totally brilliant man was a poet, storyteller, profit and adviser, I always feel sad when I see pictures or videos of Phill during the last 3 years of his life, he was sad, suffering and lost and it breaks my heart to see this from the man who helped millions of people all over this world with his and Thin Lizzy music but he was too strong headed to take advise and seek help, Saint Phil is now at peace in heaven and having the greatest time of his life rocking out with dear pall Gary also Rory Gallagher and many others. fere follow the words of PHIL LYNOTT Mama take a look at your boy, he's a military man. Papa take a look at your boy, he's crying. Papa take a look at your boy, he's a soldier. Mama take a look in his eyes, they're colder. Papa take a look at your boy, he's a military man. Mama take a look at your boy, he's dying. Papa take a look at your boy, he's fighting. Mama take a look at your boy, he's frightened. They have trained your boy to kill, and kill some day he will. They have trained your boy to die and ask no questions why. Papa take a look at your boy, take a look at your boy, take a look at your boy. He's a killer, yeah. Mama take a look at your boy, take a look at him now, take a look at your boy. He's a soldier, he's colder, he's older, mama. Mama take a look at your boy, obey the order. Mama take a look at your boy, like a lamb to slaughter. They have trained your boy to kill, and kill some day he will. They have trained your boy to die and ask no questions why. One day I will write for you a lovesong, mother. As the children say: "I love you", please hold me. And you and I, we will live our life together. Until that day when we die, I will love you, mother. I will always love you. I am writing from this war. Oh mama, I don't know what I'm fighting for. And have you seen my children? God bless them, kiss them, and tell them that I miss them. See I'm frightened in the dark, mama, mama. The blood is ankle deep. They have trained your boy to kill, and kill someday he will. They have trained your boy to die. Papa take a look at your boy, take a look at your boy, take a look at your boy. He's marching, he's a soldier. Oh mama, oh mama. He's on the street. He's marching to the backbeat.

Im curious to what advise you are hinting at ? Stop using drugs but stay in the rock business ? Come on, .. Phil was not in denial , he was an honest dude who even came clean about his ongoing drug abuse on TV media. He knew that his struggle would be a lifelong one and therefore also one doomed to fail. Some souls cannot be saved not by all the wisdom in the world. Hold him captive in a room with no access to the rest of the world for all eternity ? - We would have lost him either way. His story is a real sad one, but still I remember only the good in him: his cheer talent for songwriting and his commanding presence as frontman who rocks the bass in that genius band Thin Lizzy.

Hi @@RipperMatricus, I was not hinting at anything, I said what I know to be true. I do not ask anyone to agree with me, I know what I know and I say with I believe. Sadly one of the last things these two worked on, everything they worked on was gold. Phil was the badass charismatic rockstar poet, his delivery was always authentic, never seemed forced, he lived and breathed the front man role, easily n of the best ever. In contrast, Gary was shy, a deep thinker, reserved until he put on that guitar, and then, very very few could match his fire and emotion. it oozed out of him, and you felt it in the audience, you willed him on closer to the edge, yet he was in full command, his playing is just pure precision, his style is meat and potatoes , less frills just big effortless riffs, thrills and licks but its on a level so far beyond the normal player it truly is a joy to behold. Between them they were so much more than the whole package, the world lost out on something truly special.

Dude, so much of the 80s Gary Moore stuff and Thin Lizzy/Phil Lynott is ridiculously underrated and under appreciated. In my opinion Gary Moore is/was the best hard rock guitarist ever! Along with EVH, George Lynch and a few others.. and Phil Lynott one of the best bassist/frontman in rock history, if not the best. I’m only 32 but I’m very fortunate that my dad raised me with this good music.

Looks like Brian Downey on drums, and sounds like another thin lizzy song too. But Gary Moore wasn't on their best albums so for nostalgia it's nice, but not for musical enjoyment. Brian Robertson, Scott Gorham were the best Thin Lizzy, and even Snowy White for Renegade, the one album with Snowy and Moore on it was the better than others with Moore.
