In the mid-1970s, Moore was involved in a bar fight which left him with facial scars. According to Eric Bell, Moore was with his girlfriend at Dingwalls when two men "started mouthing about Gary's girlfriend ... what they'd like to do to her". After Moore confronted them about it, one of the men smashed a bottle on the bar and slashed Moore's face with it. This had a profound effect on him. Bell said, "It did change him. A lot of that pent-up anger and emotion would come out in his playing. And it came out in other ways too. It must be a hard thing to come back from something like that." During the 1980s, he would hide his scars in photographs and videos by looking down or being framed from a distance.

Gary was one of the finest Blues and Rock players to strap on a six string. Gary’s searing tone, melodic phrasing, beautiful vibrato, and endless sustain is unparalleled. Gary left us much too young. Here’s a link to one of his last performances ant Montreaux Jazz festival. This man was, to me, equal to the greatest players of any era. Parisienne Walkways was one of his signature tunes, I hope you enjoy it! Btw, I love this channel!❤ m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJrYgmR7l9eHb5Y

I have many friends that are guitar players and fellow musicians. I am a drummer of 45 years. I played in lots of bands and done a number of different styles of music. That's my bio. I opened with this because I wanted to say that with age and maturity comes wisdom. Gary Moore has an age and maturity to his playing that is so evident in how he decides to pick his melodic themes and embellish with beautiful the flurries and runs that have a purpose. One of my favorites currently to listen to. Something for us all to shoot for, and few of us will ever achieve. Beautiful tasteful guitar outro solo. Hard to believe he played for so many years doing straight ahead rock and roll. You can hear the rock influence in his blues soloing. I kind of get the feeling that this is the kind of stuff he should have been doing all along. Probably had to make money like the rest of us! Thank you for sharing that with us

I saw him open for Def Leppard back when they were doing the Pyromania tour. It was good they had their A game as Gary was still in Rock Mode and on his Victims of the Future tour, just blasting his way through a bunch of songs from it and Corridors of Power. He was the opener with Krokus 2nd on the Headhunter tour and belting out a sublime Screaming in the Night. One of the best triple bills I ever saw. Try Gary Moore and his rocker, Don't Take Me For A Loser, it is a great banger and shows him at his best in the rocking part of his great career. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶

I think that, as one goes through one's years, the "holds" from the past accumulate, while the freshness to move ahead or start a new gradually wanes. It's called slowly dying, and it happens to everyone. The reality of this sounds horrific to young people, but it seems natural as one goes into it, and there are hidden blessings within it.

When someone like Moore, Clapton, Beck and Santana can take one note and strike it, bend it, sustain it, distortion/dirty it, etc . . . and gain so much emotion from that one note, it's then that you've got a guitar player that's in touch with the blues.
