Gary Moore was a phenomenal guitarist. He's like Ireland's version of Stevie Ray Vaughan, and has even covered some of SRV's songs. He played for a while with Thin Lizzy, but I don't think he was an original member. He's best known for his incredible blues.

He was in Thin Lizzy twice 1st time for around 6 months in '74 when original guitarist Eric Bell quit and again in '78 when Brian Robertson left, he walked out on Lizzy about 18 months later due to his disappointment and frustration with Lynott and Gorhams escalating drug habits.

Gary Moore was a different breed of cat. He was a great guitarist, singer and composer but the thing that made him top level aside from the aforementioned traits is the fact that he put every fiber of his being into every note he played or sang. One of the best ever. I would love to see you react to the live video of "Parisienne Walkways" at Montreaux, 2010. It has to be this particular performance. It was recorded in the year before his death and he left it all on the stage.

I heard all the '80s classics including Parisienne Walkways, Empty Rooms, All Messed Up, Over the Hills and so on. Then i saw him 1990 with Albert Collins on the Still Got the Blues tour. He did several encores and the last one was The Messiah Will Come Again which he played with such feeling and passion but also with lots of improvisation!!

His name doesn't get brought up enough amongst the greatest guitarists ever. The way he bends and stretcher the lighter notes makes you feel like your soul is sitting on nails in a way that heals you. Another great of his that's been covered by Nightwish is 'Over The Hills And Far Away'. A unique talent like Stevie-Ray Vaughn and Jimmy Hendrix. I love the way old-school musicians let themselves go and become a part of their performance where the thought "do I look stupid when I do this" never entered their mind, it was just a pure performance. If I can recommend you a musician of today who captures that spirit, please please please check out Reignwolf who's uniquely talented and leave his soul bare when he plays!

Thank you for reacting to one of my absolute favorite musicians! He's one of the small handful of the greatest electric guitarists ever. People used to say "Jimi Hendrix can make the guitar talk, but Gary Moore can make it cry." It was as if the guitar was plugged directly into his soul. He could play any style, too -- jazz, blues, rock, heavy metal, etc. There are so many songs of his for you to explore -- "Story of the Blues", "Separate Ways", his cover of Roy Buchanan's "The Messiah Will Come Again', "Parisienne Walkways" (live with Phil Lynott)... For an idea of his rock guitar playing, check out "Out in the Fields" with Phil Lynott. You are truly blessed to have discovered Gary Moore! May your blessings keep coming.

RIP Gary Moore. He was a great guitarist, not just at the blues which he played often, but many other styles. Plus he had an amazing voice.

I’m loving ur content on the weekend while I’m having a beer in southeast London. This guy Gary is a Irish genius. My 85 year old Nan has a tattoo of his face on her inna thigh. Lol she’s the craziest Nan. “ skydiving bungeejumping” soo nannny Pat showed me Gary Moore. As a 33 year old Londoner I love this Irish man. I truly love watching u finding out new music. It’s my favourite thing. 🤟🏻💙🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Next to SRV, Gary Moore is THE most badass guitarist! His tone is soooo LOUD and perfect! If SRV is Mr. Soul, then Gary Moore is Mr. Passion! On any given day, this is best guitar playing and guitarist you'll ever hear. You're deep into the reaction game now, Jay, with this Gary Moore reaction. Congrats! Listen to the studio version of Gary's "The Prophet" - it's six-and-a-half minutes of instrumental ecstasy..

Gary was know primarily as a guitarist but this tune with his soulful vocal is high on my desert island playlist. On YT you can find duets of Gary with both Albert King and BB King. Both are worth tracking down. The reactions of both to Gary's playing will show you all you need to see. Very special stuff.
