Gary Moore was a phenomenal guitarist. He's like Ireland's version of Stevie Ray Vaughan, and has even covered some of SRV's songs. He played for a while with Thin Lizzy, but I don't think he was an original member. He's best known for his incredible blues.
@stephenwainwright75804 жыл бұрын
He was in Thin Lizzy twice 1st time for around 6 months in '74 when original guitarist Eric Bell quit and again in '78 when Brian Robertson left, he walked out on Lizzy about 18 months later due to his disappointment and frustration with Lynott and Gorhams escalating drug habits.

Gary Moore was a different breed of cat. He was a great guitarist, singer and composer but the thing that made him top level aside from the aforementioned traits is the fact that he put every fiber of his being into every note he played or sang. One of the best ever. I would love to see you react to the live video of "Parisienne Walkways" at Montreaux, 2010. It has to be this particular performance. It was recorded in the year before his death and he left it all on the stage.

Congrats discovering Gary Moore. Gary is in my opinion the most intense, raw emotion, guitarist ever. And so versatile. He could play anything. Did jazz & fusion with Collosseum II and rock with Thin Lizzy in the 70s, hard rock in the 80s, blues in the 90s/2000 and was about to release a rock album again when he passed in 2011. Seen him many times live. Always delivered. He is a guitarists guitarist. Everybody from the guys in Metallica to Def Leppard and beyond has got Gary Moore on the top of their list. Best guitarist ever.

I saw him 1989 when he had announced it would be the last time he would play hardrock although he broke that "promise" the last years of life. I heard all the '80s classics including Parisienne Walkways, Empty Rooms, All Messed Up, Over the Hills and so on. Then i saw him 1990 with Albert Collins on the Still Got the Blues tour. He did several encores and the last one was The Messiah Will Come Again which he played with such feeling and passion but also with lots of improvisation!!
