Couldn’t agree more, love that song and album.. Always had a feeling ‘Still got the blues’ song was based on Parisian Walkway though, and maybe ‘ Still in love with you’, old Thin Lizzy track.. maybe an evolution from 1 through to the other... Great guitarists make the notes and riffs into subliminal words, different meaning and feeling to whoever listens ( and has an appreciation of guitar).

I had the pleasure of meeting him shortly before his passing. He was a very humble and personable man. You drew a parallel with Brian May. The sign of a truly great player is that within hearing one or two notes you know it is them. Gary Moore was one of those. The best "feel" player of all time in my lowly opinion.

@@Londoneye57 funnily enough, I met the former as well at a blues night in North London in 1989. He jammed with one of the bands, used their kit, never touched a knob on the amp. Gary wrote the music when doing his first solo album. Phil Lynott was invited to sing on the album and do some bass. I'm sure someone has probably said this below but just in case I'll cover it as well - Gary's guitar was famously given to him by Peter Green (from Fleetwood Mac) and supposedly was reverse wired (by accident) resulting in what would later be called a "Brown sound". Peter would end up in mental re-hab for many years and made very very few public appearances. I was lucky enough not just to see Gary Moore 6 times, but the last time Peter joined him on stage for two songs. Gary does have a signature Les Paul that is supposed to sound like his own... but... I played one... Now, I'm NO Gary, but I can tell tone - It doesn't sound much like his. If you're interested check out Gary Moores album "Blues for Greeny" but over that I would recommend "Blues Alive".

The epitome of using a guitar as an amp controller..What the electric guitar is all about. On those sustains you can hear the cranked tubes clawing for the very last electrons. Lo-fi is so far from the truth. You NEED to hear that hum. That is the sound of sheer electrical energy being expertly manipulated. "Rest in power" says it all.
