Members of dying fetus seldom do podcasts, let alone having all 3 of them at once for an hour. I cannot explain how much I learned about my favorite band from this. Despite their popularity and longevity there is shockingly little information about them in the internet. Specifically regarding lineup changes earlier in the bands life. This is incredible for us Dying Fetus fans
@Metalton95
@Metalton95 Жыл бұрын
Right?! Getting all 3 on here is SUCH a blessing to us fans! Also crazy to hear from John that he was doubting Dying Fetus when Necrophagist and The Faceless got traction. Then he fucking put out Descend Into Depravity (their most technical release) and followed up with Reign Supreme (their best album and a GOAT'ed modern death metal classic). Maybe the real sound of perseverance were the 3-piece records they made along the way? ;)

I was so happy to come across this. Fetus one of my favorites. They brought up Sepultura. It's awesome to just see them. I'll see them 11/11 in Minneapolis!! Can't wait.

Yes we do with the exception of the hip hop community. Baltimore has a major issue with murders and shit making us look bad. Turnstile have very cool and laid back members. They're very humble as well.

stop at nothing is 1 of my favorite metal albums. Love these guys! They are so underrated. The guitar and drums are brilliant, and vocals hit so hard!! Also, they are from Maryland, and so am I!!!

I still remember when I saw them for the first time live back in 2013, at the end of their set I just screamed at the top of my lungs "Have my babies, Trey" and he looked up from his set and just pointed to the crowd. I've never felt so validated. I also got to meet him and he's amazing.

Me and 2 other friends got to meet Dying Fetus last year. Sean was a cool guy to talk to, very nice dude. Trey was a pretty funny guy. John Gallagher tho, idk if it just wasn't his day or that's him sometimes, but he answered kinda dry when saying "thanks for coming to the show" after signing stuff, but he got really pissed when a guy got on stage to stage dive and knocked the mic into his mouth, and he got pissed. Either way, very awesome band to have met and probably my #1 favorite brutal death metal band ever. And probably the best ever.

On the blast beat topic, I'm pretty sure S.O.D. was first as Speak English or Die came out in 1985, Nuclear Assault "Hang the Pope" was 1986 and Napalm Death "Scum" was 1987. Also the guitar tone on MTBFD is goddamn perfect!

Speaking of early blastbeats: "Antichrist" from Bestial Devastation by Sepultura has some blastbeat-ish drumming and that's 1985

I discovered these dudes my sophomore year of high school. It was a meme of bear in the big blue house playing “kill your mother/ rape your dog”. Thought it was funny af and then I bought destroy the opposition. Blew my mind. Love these guys and been supporting them ever since. Brutal groovy and crisp. Especially for 3 piece god damn.

The latest album is such an amazing record! I chose it as my favorite music album (of everything) for 2023 and I am never disappointed. I do feel that the reviews (while most have been quite positive) miss how good it is. Not only should it be seen as a highwater mark (up to now) for the band, but I think it did some stuff I really never hear in Death Metal, and I appreciate that. Also, I liked when the guys talked about being humble on this interview and again, I appreciate that sentiment! Whenever we, as humans, let our ego dominate our every action, that is recipe to fall on our faces in shame eventually. You guys fucking rock! 2023 was a great year for heavy metal and yet, I find myself listening to Make Them Beg For Death all the time, months on end. Frozen Soul and Suffocation and Cattle Decapitation and Cannibal Corpse had tremendous records last year and yet, Dying Fetus is right up there with Bloodbath and Carcass and Nile, vying for my favorite Death Metal act. Please continue in this vein gentlemen because it is so damn interesting, and I love variety in my music. \m/ \m/
