Man I can just picture it now. Mammoth battalions with the whole shebang rolling in on the capitol. Heavy Frigate coming out of orbit dropping ODSTs. Meanwhile the suicide rate of the empire multiplies a dozen times from the idea of a flying fortress. With it's captain give a speech over some giant loudspeaker about how the UNSC has defeated ships 5 times its size with better weaponry and have a bomb literally strong to blow up the entire planet. And to just surrender so he doesn't have to level the city.

Just started watching this anime recently. Still baffled by how much... anime... it ended up being, but at the end of the day, it's still what I was looking for, modern Japanese military shredding medieval fantasy armies with some of the most beautiful and badass tools of war ever devised. The weird ass harem shit is strange as fuck, but I can get past that as long as I can see Hueys flying in the sunset to Flight of the Valkyries and Cobras flattening a spear formation with a storm of 20mm.

As far as the Harem stuff goes most of the time I'm fine with it because Itami seems to treat it more as an older brother/father figure type of relationship. Though Rory isn't subtle. Though the guy actually having common sense and being absolutely against their advances is funny. Honestly it almost feels like a parody of these tropes half the time, still laugh at how at the end of it all he would rather be at the expo and play RPGs than do the real thing lol. Complete opposite of most protags in these shows.

Not an anime but theres a manga called "Nihonkoku Shoukan" or in English "Japan Summons" thats about how the ENTIRE country of Japan, all the islands, get transported to another world. They form a treaty with a nation thats blessed by the god of harvest and they're able to provide Japan with the food they need while they offer them military support. After that they're declared war on and the Japanse obviously have to support them. Whats really cool is that they offer naval support too so you see some guided missile destroyers go up against an entire medieval navy. I'd suggest reading if you really liked GATE

When you play CIV IV, but too bad for the knights killing WW2 Shermans. I've modded it with Realism Invictus, it made tanks into an actual tank, soloing an entire city with health only left as yellow half. No upgrades or level higher than 2, they attack i receive, they wait- i attack. (Same fate had me on Caesar's Ariette MBTs)

This anime is so stupid and I love it. I have watched this anime so many times because not only I am a military nuthead, but I like how it is quite different to any anime I watched and manga I have read so far. Sure there are some that are similar to GATE (like Nihonkoku Shoukan and Sengoku Jieitai) but this just displays epicness and its ridiculousness at the same time in my opinion. As long I keep watching UH-1s and AH-1s kill a large army of bandits and F-4EJs kill a dragon, I will forever be fascinated by GATE.

Harry Lim I can agree with you but honestly all they would need to do is build a shipyard because they are already on the verge of mining minerals and what not in the other world, and frankly they don't even need to follow the 'laws' in that world because who's going to stop them, but still as cool as it would be I doubt it would happen as well

they can mine minerals yes, however, currently, the mining rights are technically granted by the kingdom of elbe. so the sdf just has to secure a land route to wherever theyre mining back to Anus hill. I think the whole point of them doing humanitarian aide and not just a full on invasion is to not pull an america, where they just slaughter everything and take what they want in the first place. If the sdf didnt care about diplomacy, the series couldnt taken 12 episode of just tactical orgams and show the slaughter of every single soldier all the way to the empire. Looking at the map of the Special regioin, there is a area marked as the blue sea. Assuming they can secure the imperial capital and put in place a peace treaty, they can easily setup a port there. Alternatively, they can strike favours with the kingdom of elbe and create a port there, which is a strategic location to dock ships, as you can cut off water transport from the capital through there. However, the shortest and most direct way there would be to cut through the coan forest and a mountain range. which means that for logistics sake, theyll have to go near the capital to dock, or alternatively travel further and dock at elbe. This is all assuming the gate doesnt collapse before theyre done, as rory has said before, the gate opens and closes. which would mean that when the gate starts to close, theyll have to either self destruct the shift, which at its smallest cost 150 million for a patrol boat, or 2 billion for a destroyer. so its highly unlikely. Unless, they use either small sized interceptors or standard patrol boats.
