A book that has not come to your attention which I also Enjoyed this year "Once we were witches" sequel coming out "Twice we make magic" Magic have been removed and all witches destroyed as they are evil, but the children in the wicked school for girls do not know why they are wicked or who their parents were. When two sisters find out the truth they escape find themselves at an undertakers want more answers until Egg the youngest shyest sister finds herself called on to save her elder and travels where she did not expect with powers she did not know she possessed. So good! Highly recommend checking it out!

I am going to recommend the Alan Cole books to you (Alan Cole is not a coward, and Alan Cole Doesn't Dance) they follow Alan Cole. who is gay, and it follows his story. The second book is one of my favorite books ever. I know you prefer fantasy to contemporary (as do I) but they are so amazing. Doesn't Dance made me cry of happiness at 10:30 pm.
