Hello, beautiful playing. I’m learning this piece all by myself and is struggling with the bowing. How do you change the slurs to staccato so effectively?

Hi there! That would be a good topic for another video;-) A bit difficult to explain in writing, but I will try! When you play staccato, you need to bring the stick of the bow towards the string, then you release the pressure and draw the bow at the same time. You want the sound to be crunchy and sharp at the beginning, and light and smooth at the end. This takes a lot of practice, so its necessary to be patient with this one. Once you can do the staccatos, it is easy to change from that to the slurs. Wishing you all the best for your practice, and I will aim at making a video on this topic soon! Is it the key you are having trouble with? I know the fourth finger pattern is particularly challenging, so I alwasy recommend practicing the Bflat major (on A and E Strings) separately, and using the third finger as your anchor, as it plays the resonance notes which you can always double check with the open strings to see if they are right. And make sure that your third finger always hovers over that spot - one of the most common mistakes is to pull back all fingers when pulling back the first, and then all notes are out of tune. Anyway, I dont know if this is what you struggle with, but its the most common challenge:-) Wishing you all the best for your practice!
