Gawarawila Thanna” (Garawila Plains) is a fantastic location and a local destination near Maskeliya. The foreigner’s name is a “Gartmore estate.” The Sinhala name refers to the historical mythology of residence of an animal name “Gawara,” which quite like the Bison Bull in the general sense. As the “Gawara” generation lived around this region, the area was named the “Gawarawila Thanna.” By now, it is a popular traveling destination among both locals and foreigners. The youth are much interested in camping in the “Gawarawila Thanna” area as the place is wild and away from the noisy human backgrounds. Camping is challenging in “Gawarawila Thanna,” but the energetic youth finds it a fantastic wildlife experience. Even the environmentalists and the investigators are visiting this place. It is with their intentions of discovering the mysterious stories behind the existence of the “Gawara” animal ages ago
