Old video of a trip to the Pentland Hills before the winter comes in.
This trip was a visit to the amazing hill called Turnhouse hill. Relexed camp just off the summit after a 40 minute walk. Enjoy the video!

Hi everyone, Just want to say this was a video I forgot about from last year. Filmed this around the beginning of October which explains the title. Have to say it feels like winter is coming early anyway with the latest weather. Hope you enjoy!

The views are really something, I don't know any place that looks like that. There aren't many cities around Europe you can leave by a stone's throw and have a camp. You're lucky to be in such a naturally beautiful area.
@GazTheExplorer

Yeah I agree with you there. Very lucky to have Edinburgh and the Pentlands very close to each other. Some of the hills do offer full views of the entire city on a clear day and night. It’s a good place to go in winter and look at the city lights. Thanks for watching, ATB Gaz

I love the Pentlands. Some great walking there. I had a nice walk planned there before I busted my hip, a linear walk from West Linton up to the Craig's, then over to the Kips and the rest of the Pentland 5, with an overnight camp thrown in, as ive never camped in the Pentlands. I'll have to wait until next year now. Cheers 😎

Thanks Suszh, I should be back on this hill this winter. The Pentlands is good because it’s not always covered in snow during the winter. I do think we will have one more good spell of weather before October just hoping it comes soon while we still have the daylight. Thanks for watching, ATB Gaz

I was a wee bit confused there 😂. I’m thinking of actually doing some winter camping up the Pentlands this year since I’m only travelling from Midcalder. Or possibly sneaking into beecraigs for a hammock camp in the winter.
@GazTheExplorer
@GazTheExplorer Жыл бұрын
Beecraigs seems like a good place for winter camping in the woods. Just a shame the Bathgate hills are on the smaller side. Too accessible for me. The Pentlands is good for winter for the shorter drives. Not bad living in Mid Calder. Only about 25 minutes from Harlaw and Threipmuir. Thanks for watching ATB Gaz

Gas, thanks for great video and views. Was thinking about getting garmin mini for my trip to Glencoe what do you think about them??. Thanks again William
@GazTheExplorer
@GazTheExplorer Жыл бұрын
Cheers William, The inreach Mini offers just that extra security when on the mountains. Never needed to use it but it is fairly easy to set up and you can send messages to family and friends with it throughout the trip too. Probably worth considering if you’re going to Glencoe. Some of the Munros in Glencoe are a little awkward. Thanks for watching, ATB Gaz
