GB News: Ofcom Launches Formal Investigation Following 7300 Complaints | Good Morning Britain

Ofcom has launched a formal investigation into GB News after the regulator received thousands of complaints about Laurence Fox's comments on Dan Wootton's show on Tuesday. The announcement came after Dan Wootton's contract as a columnist for MailOnline was terminated, according to a spokesperson for the news website's parent company. In a statement, Ofcom said: "We have launched an investigation into GB News under our rules on offence, after receiving around 7,300 complaints about Tuesday's episode of Tonight with Dan Wootton." Wootton was suspended by GB News on Wednesday, after a row over comments made by actor-turned-political-activist Fox, who had been a fellow presenter for the channel.
It comes as a Conservative MP Caroline Noakes said GB News should be taken off air.

GB News is mainstream media. It's owned by Rupert Murdoch who also owns and controls a LOT of our media and not only ours but also in the US and Australia. He is also one of the biggest tory party donors, which is probably why GB News is stuffed with tory MP's. As long as the tories are in power, Murdoch has influence in the government. Having said that, I have no objection to GB News doing what they do. What I do object to is them having "News" in their name when, what it really is would be more accurately described as opinion or reaction. I strongly believe that anything sold as news should present only facts and should not be able to pick and choose what it presents, for example GB News are quite prone to ignoring when tory MP's do something they shouldn't but they're all over it when a Labour MP does exactly the same

It is bordering on insanity. It has to be. Who in their right mind would argue for that kind of response? Especially for ITV to echo. This is the channel who took on Jonathan Ross after THAT Russel Brand radio incident. I'm sure all channels that produce live content have had their problems and as long as it's dealt with people should just move on. Too many people have pathetic lives that they feel the need to act like a mob to cancel everyone and everything.
