Soooo to the last bit about ear pro… your ears under adrenaline I believe start to block out noise when your ears expect it. For example hunting requires open ears to listen for those sneaky animals and you’re shooting a rifle caliber way larger than what cops and military use (outside of snipers and crew served) and nobody stops to put on ear pro. I can’t think of how many times I’ve shot my rifle and didn’t hear it because I was super focused on the deer and my ears didn’t hurt. I researched it. How is that possible. Then in the winter running a machine gun in the snow with 3M bs earplugs and it felt like someone stabbing me in the eardrums with a knife. Ears rang for what felt like weeks after that and I knew it was my hearing loss dying out slowly lol 🤷 thanks aunt Samantha
@SusquehannaValleyFirearmsLLC2 ай бұрын
I respectfully disagree with this. You are damaging your hearing whether you are aware of it or not. It’s pretty uncommon to wear ear pro hunting in PA and most of the later aged hunters I know have significant hearing loss. Measurable to needing hearing aids. Always worse in their rifle shoulder side ear. We used to run bird dogs for years for Pheasants forever. Our dogs used to go mostly deaf by 9-10 years old. I always thought it was just age with them. I haven’t run dogs for about 15 years but I still prefer the breed. My dogs now are way into their 13+ years with no notice of significant hearing loss. That’s when I realized we were deafening them with the shotguns. They were out in front of us where the pressure waves are the worst. Reading about inner ear structure and talking to audiologists, I’ve come to really hate loud noise for no reason. You don’t realize you are getting a sunburn until it’s too late. Hearing is the same. Just because your pain threshold is moved due to adrenaline doesn’t mean your body puts up a shield on your ear drum.
@DrunkChristian032 ай бұрын
@@SusquehannaValleyFirearmsLLC thanks for being a respectful person in disagreeing with me that lacks in these days - I’m not saying not to use it or that you don’t need it I fully acknowledge the hearing loss but I’m saying the military and cold conditions made it was worse and my cousins and I sat around one day asking each other like “bro, do you ever notice when you shoot the gun doesn’t hurt your ears but if I’m watching you shoot I have to plug my ears? Why is that” so I researched it and it is true that during a moment like this your primal instincts close off unnecessary sensory perceptions and whatnot like when officers get into OIS you never hear them complain unless their buddies fire next to their ears but we shoot a lot in the military and that’s when it started to suck. I’ve shot rifles being stupid without it and now I don’t even like shooting a .22 unsuppressed without ear pro… I’ve got hearing loss and tinnitus from the Marines lol I never had any issues hunting but now I will not go out without my electronic ear pro even to hunt. The only time I’ll use it without ear pro is if I have to for self defense. Can’t walk around town with peltors on and can’t tell someone “hold on let me put my ears in before you attack me” especially if it’s a bear and they don’t care what you have to say lol thanks for the conversation brotha God speed and peace be with you! @@DrunkChristian03 ah, ok. I understand now. I may have misunderstood your position. Your explanation was very good. Yes I agree. Ear pro for sure. I’ve hunted with suppressed rifles for about ten years now and it’s been great. I can’t imagine going back. My kid is just starting and it will be suppressed rifles for sure. I completely understand the points made in the video about not being able to use ear pro during surprise situations and I couldn’t agree more. If I had to use a concealed weapon, I’m not going to value my hearing over my life or someone else’s at that point. But I certainly keep foamies all over the place for use with tools, guns, etc. I’m sorry to hear of your hearing loss also. It’s unfortunate for sure. No one valued that stuff years ago and now that they do it’s too late for many.

@@SusquehannaValleyFirearmsLLC I think the part in my comment about the cold was also that it may have been too cold to wear foamies like for whatever reason they didn’t expand all the way to seal my ear shut and that particular day it was a lot of fully auto machine gun firing and it just pounded my ears I was surprised they weren’t bleeding lol but both DJ and Cole have been put through way more than I have, I’m just jealous of all the guys rocking peltors and suppressors now but I think we need to address the toxins that DJ mentioned I really appreciate him for bringing that up. I’ll buy more flow through suppressors if I can. We get so caught up in the sound dampening and signature reduction but what about our health?
@rondobrondoКүн бұрын
There is something called an “warned response”. It has nothing to do with adrenaline. Basically, tiny muscles in your face, ear, and inside the ear constrict the passageways that sound travels, as well as as providing a slight protective factor to the inner ear. It does does cause the inner ear to be slightly more protected and objectively react less severely to loud noises. So it is protective in that sense, but not very much. The analysis is considered “Warned” when you know the noise is going to occur. For example, a “Warned” analysis is appropriate when you are analyzing hearing damage risk to the personnel firing the weapon. The inner ear muscles contract during a “Warned” response, lessening the severity of the event. It’s PART of why unexpected loud noises sound louder than loud noises you expect. But with gunfire, you’re still damaging your hearing

How do the flow through look under thermals? Suppressors as a whole build up quite a bit of heat without a cover but those flow thru cans really build some heat just because of how they vent. I would be curious if someone would shoot several mags through various suppressors with and without covers and look at them from say 50 yards out to 300 yards with a thermal device. Signature reduction matters to an extent but mitigating flash is one of the main objectives with suppressing 556 and with a few near peer adversaries like china and russia using thermals heavily I would want to reduce my thermal footprint and not have a thermal light at the end of my muzzle while still retaining the advantages of a suppressor.

Look at it like tires if you buy a sports car you’re not gonna get the best performance out of the car if you have winter tires on it year round. Suppressors like tires are also disposable goods. The new company is of course a separate entity and not responsible for fixing the old company’s products. But at least we now have an option to fix the old cans for latch repairs. And the way they are doing them makes it so you install a new latch should you need to in the future, just drive out the pin. Or you can send them to Nick at ECCO machining to cut off the back and thread it for a hub mount. He also can usually do things like fix end cap strikes, recores, etc. Cans have come a long way since the mid 00’s, when AAC and Surefire were the only games in town, but a can is still pretty much a lifetime purchase, so consider that when buying.

It's weird that you bring up drama between other grown men whom you have never met. Very strange that you'd be so invested in two grown men having a falling out in their friendship. But either way, the CGS SCI-6 was poorly engineered from the get go. LOTS of people had issues with the suppressor coming loose from the flash hider. Do you know why? The mount used a taper but they coated the flash hider with some sort of pvd coating. There is no way to control the thickness/uniformity of those types of coatings so the end result was tons of people getting flash hiders that were out of tolerance. It would've only been barely out of specc but with a taper mount it has to be essentially perfect or you will not get the desired effect. So, definitely not top 10 just due to the oversight made by their engineers. This is the reason why quite a few companies don't coat their muzzle devices and instead just send them through heat treat.

You guys should check out the B&T SRBS line up. They have their own “flow through” tech, though they don’t like to call it that for some reason. They also use the standard 1-3/8x24 hub threading, so there’s several options for hub adapters. They’ve been introducing some awesome products in the American market recently.
@cameronmills3414Ай бұрын
Been 4 months waiting on my srbs 762. Do you have it?
@rondobrondoКүн бұрын
They can’t call it “flow through” because that’s a SPECIFIC TYPE OF SILENCER DESIGN TECHNOLOGY THAT WAS CREATED, OWNED, AND TRADEMARKED BY Huxwrks That’s like saying, “there’s a company that has their own paper tissue technology, but for some reason they don’t call them “kleenex”?
@rondobrondoКүн бұрын
They’re okay. Not as good as CAT silencers imo, in basically any category: they’re larger, heavier, louder, have more flash, have more blast wave propagation/more concussiveness/boominess, have a shittier QD system, have higher back pressure, are less durable, etc. I personally see no reason to buy any other silencer right now except for: - PTR Vent 1 (which is a .30 cal silencer that is incredible on .308 and .300BLK, but is also stupidly quiet on 5.56. Even quieter on 5.56 than the Vent 3 on 5.56, and the Vent 3 is a dedicated 5.56 silencer), - Hux 556ti (if you’re running a 10.3”-11.5” 5.56 semi auto rifle), -maybe the new Deadair Lazarus 6 if you don’t care about that weighing 18.6oz, since that is a lil quieter than the CAT WB, and about the same sound performance as the CAT AlleyCat 556. But I’d rather have an AlleyCat 556. So nevermind, forget the Lazarus. And uhhhhh. That’s about it. I don’t see a reason to buy any other silencer for 5.56 (and most of the other calibers) right now unless you don’t want to spend the money. CAT makes the current best 9mm submachine gun can, the MOB and AlleyCat 36. The current best overall 5.56 silencer, the AlleyCat 556, (the Hux 556Ti is potentially slightly quieter on very short barrels. But weighs 50% more as much and is an inch longer) They make the best .22LR silencer, the SR The best 9mm handgun silencer, the SC. They make one of the best .308 silencers. They make what is probably the best overall high flow 7.62x39 can when you factor in size and weight. All the other silencers right now that can *slightly* beat out the CAT 556 silencers only win buy a tiny, almost imperceptible margin, but weigh significantly more or are much longer.

@@lgdurocher depends what you’re looking for. Rc2 is super durable, can withstand very high temps and exposure to a lot of full auto usage. Has very good flash and sound suppression. But it is a gassy bitch. You’re gonna hate shooting it inside indoor ranges, if you’re a lefty or working shoulder transitions, or even if you’re outside you’ll still get a bunch of gas in your eyes when you shoot quickly which isn’t fun. Flow through is a big step forward and you can get cans now from brands like kac and cat which sound better than an rc2 tone wise and do a great job at eliminating that gas to the face. So imagine an rc2 but without that annoying eye burning toxic shit getting blown in your face every time you try to work a bill drill or some quick rapid fire.

@@jaydubs6354I totally agree flow through is the way forward but with my personal rifle, I have a small gas port, an A5H4 buffer, and a good charging handle. I hardly ever notice any gas in my face. I think with a properly setup rifle most of the cons of a baffle can are mitigated

@@pilotincommand85 haha thanks man. I like the gbrs guys but people should be more aware that they are not really the type of people you should seek consumer data and recommendations form. IMO gbrs should be more upfront about what products they pay full price for and what products are gifts or industry hookups at influencer rate prices lol. Just would be a good look I think I’ve always appreciated when the talking heads in the gun scene are open about who gave them what for free or massive discounts. Even if you claim non bias it is still a factor to consider as a viewer. As for their suppressor recommendations I jsur don’t like this type of content from gbrs. They are not really subject matter experts and I’m sure they’d agree with that. They are end users who for 2 decades used what ever was issued without much complaint or argument. Now that they’re on the other side they are getting more exposure to next gen technology and engineering and they are seeing some cool new things. But… their exposure to suppressors is: they were issued surefire kac and aac cans, and now they’ve been given demo units from huxwrx, kac, and cobalt maybe a couple others as well. That’s just a very limited window of exposure when there are so many suppressors out rn doing great new designs and manufacturing processes. I wish they’d refer their viewers to guys like pew science and nfa review. Guys whose whole purpose is to test and evaluate cans from all over the industry. They just can give a more in depth analysis because they’ve touched and shot so many different cans haha vs gbrs who basically all say the same thing “huxwrx is cool, kac is cool, we liked what we were issued but the blow back is a health concern and a problem in cqb”
