I really do love GCN and its presenters. I know that it has a parent company and all that goes with that, but what a great channel, with great presenters, that helps new riders fall in love with cycling, and re-inspires older riders as well. Bravo guys. Cycling is a wonderful sport and GCN is helping, encouraging and thoroughly inspiring so so many. Thankyou all!

Another Great Video. There seems to be a good chemistry between Emma and Chris. The video seems to capture it. I personally enjoy seeing ‘real’ cycling where the riders struggle, get tired, and stop to rest or crave another coffee break. It just feels real to me. The cinematics and sound track are excellent. Please thank the producer, director and editor for making another great mini-movie. Cheers

GCN - GCD global cycling destinations
@ltu426 жыл бұрын
@@gcn Yes, but still sponsorship distorts the picture. Let's look at fi'zi:k saddles. They are great, but the reason half of the peleton uses them is not because they're great, but because fi'zi:k is effectively paying the teams to use their saddles with the hope of recouping the costs from sales to the ordinary joes like us GCN viewers. Are other Italian saddle brands worse? Probably not, but fi'zi:k is the one where marketing makes up the largest part of the consumer price. Previously you used to shoot most of your videos in Mallorca, which is a nice, warm, easy to reach (for you) destination which is good for cycling. Now you're promoting a skiing area that tries to fill the summer season with cyclists. Yeah, I guess it's nice, but is it really the best place to cycle in the Alps or even in Italy? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ You cannot say if it isn't.

GCN has become the Top Gear and The Grand Tour of cycling. The presenters put a genuine effort in cycling education, research, tour and experience goals. Opie & Pooley have done a tremendous job since arriving. I was heartbroken after Stephens left and I thought how would I ever watch a video that didnt have Si in it. Im glad GCN has only looked forward and moved ahead with shows of such higher quality that ought to be produced with big bucks by major TV channels or Amazon/Netflix. Amazing

Probably should come with a disclaimer stating that (despite the Tour of Oman going up there each year, and now the Haute Route) you cannot actually ride up Jebel Al Ahkdar, as the Royal Police stop cyclists at the checkpoint at the bottom of the hill. Sad, but true.

Why?
@stuartpatterson31886 жыл бұрын
It's the Middle East, they don't really do why, they just tell you how it is. I live in Oman, and whilst I've not tried myself, but I have friends who have been turned away (although apparently they drove through the checkpoint and got back on their bikes).
@breathestrongcycling36726 жыл бұрын

I'm not sure what it is for, bearing in mind you also can't drive up unless you are in a 4 wheel drive vehicle, when it's a surfaced road all the way up to the hotels. It's probably just that bikes aren't 4 wheel drive.
