You gave me the confidence to fix our dryer, which has been making so much noise we couldn't be on the same floor when it was running. Thank you!!

This video really helped me see how to replace the bearing slides on my GE dryer. Of note is that my GE Profile dryer has a couple of differences than what is shown on the video. The control panel screws on my dryer are at the top of the dryer instead of in the back (4 screws). These screws are not standard/philips head screws, they are Torx screws (the ones that look like a 5-point star). I needed to buy a set of Torx screwdrivers to get the one for the control panel. The other thing is removal of the dryer door. My dryer didn't have the 1/4" nut holding the door to the frame, but two philips head sheet metal screws. My advice to those doing this repair is check to see where the screws are located, and what types of screws they are. Otherwise, the repair went smoothly.

thanks this was an easy fix because of your video. The large plastic piece on mine was broke in 3 pieces and the glides were broke or gone. it was squeaking very loud before and now quiet.

You should point out that the green glides go on the inner top and the white ones are on the outer positions. It's shown in the video, but not explicitly mentioned.

Great video! I put everything back together, but I think the bearing is mis-shapen because it is so tight when I fit the door on that the drum won't move. Any Advice?

What model number is that he dryer ??

Great video but I have a question on the front drum roller part. I actually bought several parts from your store to fix my dryer. I replaced the front drum support bearing but it won't snap all the way back in. It seems like maybe the plastic tabs are a tad too short to connect. The drum and light are in place. How critical is it that the piece snaps back in? I have pictures I can send.
@repairclinic11 жыл бұрын
The drum bearing should snap into place. Did you find the bearing using a model number search?
@BoneReaperz11 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your response. I did search the model number on your site and then double checked with customer service that it was the correct part. I ended up getting the piece to snap in. I cleaned the door to make sure it did not throw off the alignment and I slowly worked it up as shown in the video. It still feels like it can unsnap much easier than the part before it, but it is working. Great site and videos by the way. I replaced the drum bearing, the rear bearing, idler pully, and belt using your parts and videos!

Ditto to everyone who said your videos are very helpful - I've referred to many of them over the past 3 days while replacing parts on my dryer! I saw in the comments that someone was having trouble snapping the front bearing piece into place, but they kept working with it and finally got it secure. Well, I'm having the same issue, and I've "worked with it" over and over and STILL can't get the darn thing to snap! Do you have any tips, or, if I can't ever get it to snap into place, do you think it will severely affect the performance or safety of the dryer? This all started because my dryer had lost its mind and starting squealing worse and worse each time. Now I'm about to lose my mind because this has turned out to be far more of an adventure than I anticipated or desired! Any help is greatly appreciated! And keep those awesome videos coming! Thanks!

pasty68 Sometimes plastic can warp a little and you have to pry it a bit to get it to lock into place. We find a putty knife really handy when working with appliances like this. .

Hello good morning if my dryer is making small holes on my clothes which is better to change, the felt seal or the front drum bearing hope you can reply thank you and have a nice day
@repairclinic10 жыл бұрын
If the glides are bad on the support bearing there will be a larger gap between the tub and the felt seal at the bottom. This will usually leave lines in the clothes from them getting in the larger gap at the bottom and being pinched at the top. I would look in the drum for a nail or something that got caught in one of the holes in the tub. You can check the glides on top of the support bearing and replace them if they are worn bad. You do not have to replace the support bearing unless the glides are totally worn out and the support is damaged. In most cases the glides can be replaced without having to replace the support. You will have to take the dryer apart to see what is needed.

Hi, I just replaced mine, put everything back together and turned the dryer on. But now it keeps turning off before the cycle has ended on timed dry. Took everything apart again, vacuumed, reinstalled the drum and same thing is happening. Figured maybe the motor was gone. I then thought of putting the old drum bearing back on where one side is broken and only have 2 glides on one side. And now it is working fine. Goes through the complete cycle. The new drum bearing IS identical except for the broken side. Any reason why a new support would cause that? Also why do you show 2 different color glides? Thanks.
@repairclinic9 жыл бұрын
+BUTLERNIXON It sounds like motor is overheating from improper support. Perhaps the issue is with the glides and not just the glide support. There should be two green main support glides at the top and center and two white secondary support glides on each end of the support.

I just ordered these parts and did this with my dryer. I got the piece to snap in all the way but it was very hard to get the drum to fit back over it. It finally went on and it seemed to be working fine. No more squealing. But as I was drying the second load after replacing the parts, my dryer got very hot and stopped altogether. It will now not even turn on. What went wrong? Help!
@repairclinic10 жыл бұрын
Crystal Temples It sounds like the high limit thermostat may have tripped. I would check the high limit thermostat and any wiring you may have connected to see if it is on correctly. Also, if you haven’t already, check the venting. Plugged venting could also make the dryer overheat.

Dear Sir I have a GE dryer model DISR473DT4WW, it's a wonderfull dryer, but now when I start the dryer in a heat program, the dryer works for 5 minutes and it stops, it just blows the house fuse. I have tried the dryer not using any heat and no problem it completes the cycle Can you please help me Your Help is Greatly Appreciated Diogo Monteiro, Portugal

first I want to tell you that your videos have helped me basically rebuild my GE dryer! haha, so thanks for that. I have a question. I just replaced the front drum bearing and slides, the old slides were gone so I ordered a whole new kit. everything went smoothly, but when I turned the dryer on with clothes in it, it ran for about 5 minutes and shut off. I turned the start knob to start it, it hesitated a bit, and started. then ran for 5 minutes and shut off again. I haven't replaced the motor, or belt. heating element is fine. replaced the pulley that was broken, causing the rear bearing to get chewed up and probably the front slides. after doing all that, setting tension, and putting it all back together, it was fine. but like I said I just replaced the slides and front bearing and now the dryer works for a few mins and shuts off. any ideas? could it be just tight and it's working too hard? or the belt is worn so it's not spinning the drum enough for the new slides/front bearing? the belt is tight, and everything's in order. that's the only thing I can think of. have you heard of this before?
