RESET INSTRUCTIONS:
You have to CLEAR THE ERROR CODES. So the machine could Reset. By rotating the washer knob to position 4 and press and hold the START/ PAUSE button. The indicator will flash during this process. Release the start/pause button after 3 seconds. Press and hold the start/pause button and fabric softener button while rotating the knob to position tn 6 to exit diagnostic.

Thx for the help... but some KZbin tips for you: instead of a screenshot, place the text for the reset in the description; for those that just need a reset, turn knob to Off, hold both Start and Deep Rinse(aka Fabric Softner button) for three seconds, while still holding turn the knob to the 6 Position ("Normal" on Permanent Press), and release. The status lights will all flash. Turn knob to the wash ya want

Thank you so much for the video. Worked perfectly. For us we didn't have a broken switch or broken wire. The lid switch had simply come loose and maybe even unplugged. I took the panel and lid off. Plugged the switch back in and tightened everything back down. red light came back on and the washer would spin again. Thanks!!!!!!!

Great diagnosis! However, I didn't unscrew anything or remove any panels. I popped the switch out (which popped from the front and not the back) connected the wires, performed the reset TWICE and now I'm washing a load of dark clothes. No removal of ANY panels. THAANNKSS , YOU DA MAN!

Doing that puts you in field service mode. You have to repeat the process to exit back to normal operation. While in FSM, placing the dial on the 3 position and then pressing start will allow you to scroll through all the error codes. After repairs are made set the dial to the 4 position and press start. The lights will flash and the error codes will be clear from the board.

This Mom says thanks much. I overloaded the machine with exactly what you said people do it with which is bath mats. The lid was locked with blinking lights. The lid switch wire was broken. Completely in half. I didn't have wire nuts so just stripped what I needed to get a good twist and make good contact then wrapped with a little electrical tape. Bingo!!!! We're back in business. Before KZbin that would have been a call to GE appliance repair!! No mare bath mats in the machine!!!!!! FYI to all......After the fix, you still have to go through the reset or your right back to the blinking lights.

I have this same unit. I had friends help me move it into my home as the retailer didnt offer delivery. The metal piece on the front where it says stop do not handle this area has fallen off... how do i put this back on as my drum doesnt spin properly without it.

I Repaired the broken wire which in my case was a crimp connector that the wire had slipped out of. I used a needle nose to uncrimp the end that was still connected and replaced it, re-crimped both ends with the new one. My problem is that after putting it in service mode it started filling with warm water and didn't seem to want to stop. Now I have no lights at all so I unplugged it for a few minutes hoping it will have led lights when I plug it in again. I wish I had the code book for this thing.

These videos are great. The only thing I would add it to the end of this video is by doing the procedure in the text at the end of this video, you then have to put it on knob position at the 4 o’clock position and press the start button to clear the codes and restart the actual washer. The procedure you give at the end of this video just puts the washer into service mode after it is in service mode, it then needs to be reset you can do this by putting the knob into position 4 and the start button and then all the LEDs will blink And then the washers resets

YOU ROCK !! I has the exact same problem except in my case the wire pulled out of the switch piece. Spoke to GE, and tried to get a replacement switch but not available. The parts guys only have the entire harness available ($220) and can't or won't sell just he switch. I bypassed the broken switch and tried the reset suggestion followed by the 4 o'clock + Start to make the lights flash. IT WORKS. Thanks you so much. I wonder how many of these machines just need to be reset and end up at the land fill. Any chance you do repairs in Virginia?

for the lid switch continuity which end do you test (the port on the maching or the lid switch itself) and what number to put the multimeter on? what number should it read? should the power be on on the machine if it is that end i am testing?

The one on the lid switch. You can set you’re Meter to give you any reading for ohms. If you get 0 or O.L. When the lid is shut, then the switch is bad.

I had my transmission replaced a few months ago. my washer fills up starts to agitate then stops with in about a minute, Kind of like if it doesn't want to work hard. Also, when i try to put it in spin, it will drain, start to spin with a few intial spins then stop with a blinking spin light. For my model (GE gud27essj0ww) it didn't work to hold the Start and FS button at the same time to get to the error codes. For someone who might need this: turned the nob to position 4, held Start only for 3 secs then pushed and held FS along with Start for 3 secs, then turned to position 6 and held for 3 secs, then released and it went into into diagnostic mode.

I did find a tech manual online. It was actually somewhat understandable. However, none of the error codes and diagnostics actually matched what I was getting on my machine. So it must be from a different version of the firmware. I doubled checked the model number and it was correct.
