I have owned this machine for nearly two years without a problem. Yes, to get the water level where you want it, the Bulk setting does it. I've also had it work on the Speed Wash setting without any problem. The only issue with this washer is that the load can get off balance VERY easily, so I make sure I am always around when it is running, in case I need to stop the spin to redistribute the wet clothes.

I had the previous electric model: GUD24ESMJOWW that I loved so much (both washer and dryer). The only difference from the older model and the newer model (for electric models) GUD24ESMMWW is that the Wash Controls had a "Power Clean" cycle which allowed the water to be filled right up to the top (without any clothes in the machine). So for anyone who still has the older model ENJOY! I recently lost mine to a failed transmission (still crying over the loss)...the machine had a full life (I think) we think the original owner of our condo must've bought it back in 2015-2017. Now, I'm in the process of looking for a replacement and am considering the GUD24ESMMWW but I too have same concerns about the functions on the washer if it allows for a deep water (same as the Power Clean) cycle. So BIG THANK YOU Jayme for sharing this video it really helps me make that decision to stick with GE 24" spacemaker GUD24. I was starting to consider other brands because the new GE GUD@$ models no longer show "Power Clean" so I was starting to wonder if I'm loosing out on this functionality. Good to know that the "BULK" wash cycle makes up for this! Does anyone have the new GUD24 model and know if you can start the BULK Wash cycle without any clothes in it? My older model "Power Clean" cycle allowed water fill right up to the top without clothes and allowed me to put stain fighting powers like OXY or RESOLVE to dissolve or I'd put the washing tabs in to dissolve and put my clothes in after.

I've had this 24 inch GE model for a year. It replaced a very large Frigidaire front loader I had for two decades. I was nervous about the downsizing, but this machine handles all my needs and load sizes so far. You should use the 15 minute pre soak cycle - it makes a big difference in the cleaning efficiency with all the wash cycles, especially using the bulky setting. The dryer is fast and plenty big enough. There was a noticeable lowering of my electric bill. I'm very happy with the machine so far. It hasn't eaten any socks or any of my clothes - and I don't know how it could...

Pre-soak just to get more water on the clothes or because you need to clean them better? I don't have clothes that get very dirty or soiled. The regular cycles don't give enough water, so I'll use bulky. But I would try pre-soak is it's shorter.
@MrInfoguy Жыл бұрын
@@UAPbigfootandBOATDRINKS This machine cleans with water (auto load sizing) or in water (bulky). The auto features use less water but set with the 15 minute soak feature really gets dirt loosened. I didn't trust the auto load sizing but I now use it for laundry that only half fills the machine on "heavy". With the 15 minute pre soak, everything comes out great. Also, I notice the washer adjusts to add more water later in the auto cycles, especially during the rinse phase. It's a clever machine and I'm very happy with it.

@@MrInfoguy So, I have a lot of lighter UnderArmour type materials (clothes) for working out. And a similar POLO shirt in that light material which is coming out VERY wrinkled like there isn't enough water or it's spinning them too dry. The clothes aren't too dirty, but they need more water. So I will try the 15 min soak feature you describe to see if they get "wet enough."

I have had this washer for a couple of weeks now. I have probably done 6-8 loads and all seemed to be going well. I found I had to leave the water level on super because the clothes were not even getting wet on the other water levels. Yesterday I started a medium load of primarily t-shirts. When it went into the spin cycle it started to make a loud banging sound. I found that all of the clothes were piled together. I redistributed the load but could not keep them from piling together. I finally had to drain and spin the load. I tried a lighter white load and had the same problem. After listening to your video I started a load of 6 pairs of jeans. I used the bulky setting and the super water level. Again they all bunched together. I am mystified on what to do with this.

This machine is so frustrating. It was placed in my apartment with no instructions given. Maintenance came back and after working with it for a while told me that is needs the weight to work. These videos helped me troubleshoot to do two loads - the though I had to manually dial it to drain and spin after (is that correct???) Anyway my kid tried to do a load for school uniforms needed next day- I didn’t think they overloaded but for some reason on bulky the water level filled (was not over line that says not to exceed) and it stopped and when I manually turned it to drain and spin it would only start and stop. It finally suddenly began to drain and spin. I have no idea why or how long it took to suddenly do that. When I went to pull clothes out to put in the dryer many items were sopping wet. I squeezed half of them out over the tub and put them in the dryer. Since there was still sipping wet clothes in the wash bin I am running it on bulky all over again trying to see if this tells me anything about the weight- maybe the kid’s load was too much with the water? We will be up all night trying to get this load done for school. So if you respond I will be up lol

After I closed the door, set the desired time, pressed Start, the dry cycle indeed started. But not more than 20 seconds passed and I heard a loud noise as if something let go and the dryer stopped working. I am not an appliance repairman but I am mechanically-inclined as I am a Tradesman. if I had to guess I think the tumbler doesn't spin. The loud noise being the drive mechanism of the tumbler failing. With that fault, I do believe it inhibits the dryer from working. If you Press and Hold the start button (with door closed, of course) the dryer works. But when you remove your finger from the Start button it stops. If you open the door quickly, it is clear the tumbler did not spin. Although it is a brand new unit, I don't have any Warranty on it (long story). Just my luck. Hi again! I’m considering buying this unit from Costco right now as they are running a special on it. What I need to know is if you can get the water to fill up nearly to the top like the older machines used to do. I was at Best Buy (on Sepulveda in WLA) today and the salesman there told me that none of the new units will fill up all the way and that I would have to fill it from my tap if I wanted more than 10” of water from the bottom of the tub. I wish you would have shown how high the water gets before starting to wash the clothing. Also, is it possible to open the lid while the washer is going to add another item if necessary? Or does the lid lock like on the front loaders. This is of particular importance to me. Does the agitation stop once the lid is opened, or would I need to press some button to get it to stop?
@jaymejay110 ай бұрын
@samanthapolakov9498 The lid locks at certain points in the cycle. You can add items in when the 'lid locked' button is off. And no, the machine will never fill the tub with water, it's eco-friendly and designed to weigh items and fill accordingly. Even with a super heavy/bulky load it will not fill.

@@jaymejay1 Thank you for the quick reply. On my current 20 year old Kenmore stack, I know when the wash cycle is almost over because the dial turns and shows me. That’s how I know I can still add something to wash for only five minutes before the rinse cycle starts. How will I be able to tell on these new machines? For example, if I’m washing white bed sheets in bleach, but I want to throw in a white T shirt, that doesn’t need to be sitting in bleach for as long as the sheets, how can I do that? I also have been able to change the dial to the gentle cycle once I throw in the T shirt, by merely pushing in the dial and turning it to the 6 minute gentle cycle and the pulling it out and the cycle is changed. How could I do that on this new computerized machine? I fear that I won’t be able to do my laundry the way I have for over 40 years and I will have to waste an entire wash cycle just for one or two white T shirts!
@jaymejay110 ай бұрын
@@samanthapolakov9498 The dial on this doesn't turn with the time, it's just a series of lights to tell you what is going on (rinse/spin/wash). You can visually see when the lid lock light is off and that's when you add stuff in (it goes off a few times during the cycle). I would say that it's trial/error and after several loads you'd learn it. Your first few loads will be test loads for sure -- as you learn the machine and its timing and features.

Yes. I’ve been trying to figure out if my washer was the only one making SOO much noise on the spin cycle throughout the end of the wash? I do have this exact same washer/dryer combo and this video helped a lot, but I agree, can we hear the actual machine going on spin cycle throughout the wash? Thank you

Hi, can a polyester queen size comforter, be washed in the GE washer?
@jaymejay12 жыл бұрын
H Wise in the vid I believe I tried a double comforter and one queen blanket. Not sure if a queen comforter will fit but a lightweight queen blanket does. I would probably say you could try with nothing else in the machine and make sure it's very well-balanced.

Can you please do a video of how to wash a load all the way through? I just moved into a rental that has this and it will wash.. but after that it stops with a tub full of water. I put it on drain and spin but it only clicks. Maintenance guy came while I was at work and says he reset and it works fine. However it’s doing the same thing again. After the wash cycle ends, do you click it over to drain and spin and push the start button again? Help because I’m at my wits end with this thing!

@jaymejay1 Жыл бұрын
@kevgh3869 I've had it 2+ years now. It has not failed or caused issues. For the price it's ok. It's for a single/couple probably since it's not heavy duty. As long as it is treated as a 'light' machine with light loads it functions fine. The major downside for me is the dryer, it takes HOURS.

How do you unlock the tap once is on a cycle
@annheatherton Жыл бұрын
I never do this anymore because the first time, the lid stayed locked. So now I put everything in a leave it alone. If I find something left out, I put it in the next wash. I believe, however, that to open the lid when the button is red, you must push the start/pause button. Then when you wish the wash cycle to continue, you must push that start/pause button again. I read that if you do not do it this way, the computer gets confused.
@UAPbigfootandBOATDRINKS Жыл бұрын
The lid will lock at the beginning. And then, once it begins to fill up the light should go off and you can lift the lid medium way up...not all the way up.

Why the heck does GE have the other wash cycles if it only works effectively on the bulky items setting? Just used mine and temperature settings don't work well. On the warm setting the water is still cold. Only reason I got this thing was the pandemic, and Trump's trade policy on China has severely limited what's available. This thing is a hunk of junk, however not many options available currently!

This is definitely one of the few in this size range Wave Riderz, so the options are limited. The machine is all about energy-saving and yes, even on warm and hot cycles it uses cold water to regulate and reduce costs, even if we don't want that.
