Hi James. It begs the question if no gasket cement was used what about the rest of the work?. Although it all looked pretty good inside the cover. We use Permatex Avation Cement or wellseal. Permatex seems to be bulletproof. Keep up the good work. David Roberts.

majorscope David, valid point and can be looked at 2 ways... it all looked very good inside and I have been told they leak regardless so at least now we have peace of mind that if they do leak then we have done everything we can to make it as good as it can be. I’m sure there are professionals out there that use a certain sealant that’s guaranteed to work but we have gone for wellseal. James.

This era of British cars you would panic if they weren’t leaking it would indicate you had no oil.
