3 months here and I've gotten 80% of the solo for devastate when was in BoO at tempo but kind of dragging my feet for the last 3 or so measures. Economy picking helped me a lot, was always a strict alt picker but the speed he goes it makes it a bit easier since you have zero time to screw up. Once you get the solo down note for note and work each measure up to speed individually, start linking them together. That's how I did it anyways.

@Xenocide Official what string gauge did you use?
@SkyvDen5 жыл бұрын
@Xenocide Official what tuning were you tuning to? If it was drop a or lower than drop g that's why. Jason Richardson plays in drop g and his signature guitar is built for drop g.
@SkyvDen5 жыл бұрын
@Xenocide Official It has a nut that was cut for a thick string gauge and a bit larger neck for the strings. He uses ernie ball 10-46 for drop d on the six strings then for the seven string signature he uses custom made steel cobalt strings 11-62. You can find his gear on equipboard.com

The ending perfectly summed up how I felt at times when first learning the solo to devastate when he was in BoO. After 3 months I managed to work up some of the fast 32nd notes to tempo but still have a bit to go for the last few measures. Economy picking helps a lot here because he just picks so fast, I never used economy picking before and I've played for 12 years but I started out of necessity because he is just so fast and I actually really like economy picking now. Anyone trying to learn a JR solo, hang in there its possible.
