He's so inspiring as an artist. "Catch lightning in bottle," "Just do it, just make things happen," "Always be in top condition," Keep the [left] brain side of life in order ("insanely regimented prep work"), then you can let the [right] brain side be creative and spontaneous ("artistic improvisational freedeom"), etcetera. I'm translating the energy behind his words into my realm, the visual art realm, and I find his creative energy and thought process so valuable. He's truly a creator's creator.

Dude this kind of podcast is exactly what I need. And the fact that you started with my favorite band, who Matt is the whole reason why i'm playing guitar today. When i learned he was on twitched on feb 8th 2018, i picked my guitar that was previously collecting dust, and i've not put it away since, in fact i've grown my collection. He's literally my biggest inspiration of all time. Now i'm in full composing mode, i love writing, and seeing how my heroes do it, brings so much insight. Nah Trey, seriously this is a fantastic idea, and I'm so happy you're doing this! Consider me a regular listener!

This right here. Been listening to trivium since ember to inferno. He is the very reason I even own a 7 string. Cheers 🍻

I can't believe how high the last three albums have skyrocketed from previous Trivium discography. To find out the creative process is so earthborn is truly eye opening and I'm definitely gonna revisit my own old songwriting attempts in that spirit. Basically the only thing I'd bitch about in ITCOTD is the anticlimactic ending of The Phalanx and maybe the verse vocals in Damocles, but otherwise - an easy AOTY 2021 and Trivium's GOAT so far.

The amount of work that goes into playing how Matt and the rest of the band do, is something I just can’t understand. The dude absolutely slays on guitar, and sings at the same time. If you’ve ever seen Alex hit the drums, he’s like a machine. It feels like he has an extra set of invisible hands from how many sounds are coming out of his kit

Matt is totally right there's a lot of bands nowadays due to the power of the internet. They'll live in Chicago their drummer will live in Boston and the guitar player might live in California and the singer is in Wyoming and in a right stuff and just recorded like on GarageBand they never really get the feel of jamming together until. They start doing their tour warm-ups or they go out on tour Matt is totally right you should write riffs together any practice space that's how the rift should come about

@@treyxaviermusic thanks! I'm starting to stream music/guitar related content. It would be awesome if you made a video sharing your setup and system specs. Bands should absolutely write for themselves! I hate songs that are engineered to be on the radio
@metalpuppet5798 Жыл бұрын
having another team mate doesn't mean they are engineered to be on the radio. A good producer goes with what the bands goal is and doesn't push it in the direction of mainstream/radio.
