Gears of War: E-Day needs to rediscover the Gears of Wars games’ sense of fun. Gears of War: E-Day is an origin story that depicts the horror of Locust invasion on Emergence Day through the eyes of Marcus Fenix. By going the Gears of War prequel route, hopefully the new Gears of War game, Gears of War: E-Day, can rediscover the original trilogy's 1980s summer blockbuster sense of fun.

Gears as a series gameplay wise has never been bad. But the much darker tone of the original trilogy compared to 4 and 5, is what made it iconic. Going back to E-Day was the perfect decision.

What made gears of war so different was the atmosphere and bleakness of it all. It felt like the COG were always 1 day away from failure and the only people capable of stopping it were these big bulky soldiers with no fear. If we can get something that invokes the similar feeling of that first gears of war trailer from back in the day, then we might be onto a winner here.

ALSO a big part of that atmosphere was the look. Bring back the oppressive grey. We need more gritty looking games in the vein of the early 2000’s. New games look too colorful, cartoony, and “marvel-like” compared to their source material. Look at the difference between new and old call of duty games. Night and day.

As a PS5 player, a new Gears of War is 100% going to make me buy an Xbox Series X. This franchise is incredible and their fans are diehard. I'm really happy that Xbox has seemingly reached the other side and is going to have a fantastic second half of 2024 and 2025.

They aren’t out of ideas, it’s that it’s safer to make the same things over and over than something brand new, since there’s already existing fanbases for them. The Coalition tried something new which the hardcore existing fandom rejected, so they’re going back to the roots of the series.

Long story short, the best thing the Coalition could do with this revamp is to keep it linear, dark, and gory just like the originals... but with a twist. Turn it into a massive horror game! Combine dead space with dark souls and sprinkle the original Gears Of War magic on it (with a huge horrifying war everywhere around you) And voila! You'd have the perfect comeback for Gears of War. Change my mind.

Basically the COG is responsible for the creation of the locusts (who themselves are a representation of a fascist, military first government) instead of informing the common people of the truth of this they choose to cover it up and make sure anyone who had the faintest idea of this truth was killed. There is a lot more to the story but that's just the tip of the iceberg of the whole narrative.

As for story they make it too complex. It's should situational small stories of the cogs and that it's interesting. The stories short simple short stories tied together. It should be like twisted metal back or heavy metal story structure and organization... They need to distance the viewers from the characters and get out of the 'too close for comfort soap opera story telling.'
