Welcome back to another Gears of War lore video. In this video I'm going to be explaining the Gears of War Kraken boss who appears in Gears of War 5! The Gears of War Kraken is a mega-creature on sera just like the Gears of War Riftworm and is seen at the end of Gears 5 by Gears of War Kait Diaz, Gears of War Augustus Cole, Gears of War Clayton Carmine and other gears.
It isn't a Gears of War Swarm creature but looks to be tamed by them instead, more info in the video!

Looking at the Krakens model in better detail it looks and kind of functions like a Leviathan. Both have that fish like appearance , both have tendrils in their mouths, both can only be harmed from the inside (gameplay wise Gears 2 Leviathan and Gears 5 Kraken), and both have large tentacles they use to swat at prey with.

It's kinda funny that the lambent berserker was tougher than the kraken was, with the berserker being able to survive the hammer of dawn

Kind of makes sense in way considering how tough a berserkers skin is. Still, yeah, it's a bit weird. I also find it strange that most of the swarm seem to just explode into strange meatchunks when they die, instead of there being corpses or anything. So much odd design choices there.

@@tylerstrickland9679 oh yeah, very much so. The gore is not nearly as visceral as it used to be, which is a shame really, since the visceral gore of the last game really helped the theme of the game be driven home.

@@Clockwork-Shadow The visceral gore is part of what made Gears famous. I think Gears 2 had the best. Gears 3 was a little scaled back, but not to the extent of the latest two games. I guess all the blood and gore was “too dark”

@@KingAbzTV Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep an eye out for it. Edit: For the future, some speculation and reverse engineering of the creature designs would be more interesting. Try to take it apart to try to find what real life animals and different media pieces inspired it. The only thing you can bring to the table that is completely unique is yourself, so talk more about what *you* think about the designs and backstories, instead of a play by play of what happens in the games. I think you'll get more interaction that way.
