A few months ago, we took a road trip from Key West, Florida to Nova Scotia, Canada. One of the most popular comments on that road trip series was the claim that there's no way I could have bought my Civic Type R replica for $5,000. Well, in this video I'll go in depth into everything that I've done to the car since I bought it. Sometimes the best deals aren't the ones that you find for sale, but there the one's that you build yourself.

@@Kyezie131 I'm not calling all civics a ricer. Hell I own a supercharged s2000 and been in the Honda game a long time. It's not awful taste it's just different, people buy cars and do what they want to the way they want to do to them because that's what they like. Like myself I generally straight pipe everything, but some people hate that. But I really don't care what other people like I alter the car the way I like it. Really, really loved the Type R & Miata road-trip. Most Civic fans here in the U.K are pure ricers, and have theirs exactly like when you first bought this one. After recently purchasing an FN2 Type R Championship White edition, though generations apart, the Type R is such a rewarding car to drive, and the work you have done on yours is really fantastic. Can't believe I hadn't found this channel earlier?! Keep up the good work, and can't wait for the next trip!

Awesome CTR replica!!! I've done several of these Honda builds, my current daily driver is a rust free original paint, border seizure civic I picked up for $371 Canadian, thats about $278 US dollars. I've since bought some maintenance parts, installed new old stock and used parts I had around the shop, recycled some parts off of my old street/track EG to get it where it is now. Not a day goes buy that somebody doesn't ask to buy it, LOL!!!

I'm tired of the huge rim diameter of a lot of wheels too. I want a car to be capable on bumpy country roads and be able to survive potholes. Plus, you can have a faster acceleration time with smaller diameter wheels because of less weight and more room for rubber thickness on the tire that gives more grip in all conditions.

Seeing your hard work put into place for the civic to transform to what it was during the tour. Personally all the tours you guys have gone I have appreciated road trips. Keep it up guys nice stuff and the cars too are nice. You literally swapped the civic 90% on your own.

Not sure about that, even many enthusiasts in Japan heavily modify their civics.. I understand the practicality and reliability of Civic's as that is truly what they are made for, but in my opinion the build he bought it as wasn't horrible, besides the obvious poor condition of some aspects. I actually thought the engine bay looked better prior rather than after he bought it. The way he built the Civic after buying it would be too stale for me, too boring. It was clean for sure but some things he did I thought were just too bland.
@JohanSalvattore
@JohanSalvattore 4 жыл бұрын
Jason Szumski Oh I’m not denying that and I know some put outrageous body kits. And I agree that his modifications were too bland for me as well. The way I see it, if there’s room to improve the overall performance while maintaining the balance, why not. I should rephrase that, “this” in my opinion is the best and most ideal way to modify a Honda, not exactly like this example but it’s pretty close.

My family used to have a '98 DX civic sedan-same silver color. 5 speed manual, manual everything-manual window cranks, manual door locks, we even hooked up a sirius xm to the cigarette lighter. That thing was a beast. Sold it with 250,537 miles on it due to a broken air conditioning compressor. These videos bring back the memories of that car.
