For those with desk jobs, a standing desk and walking treadmill combo is amazing. I'm getting in 20K steps a day mostly from this duo. Do that while you're fasting as well and you have a killer combination. It allows me to eat more than usual and still stay on a cut.

If there is one SECRET to hitting beach body aesthetics, it’s walking. It was the key for me finally getting the body I always wanted. (And yes of course diet and workout routine are the base, that’s obvious). But introducing a lot of walking into your lifestyle is just such a game changer. Way more effective than standard cardio.

The most important muscle is the heart so the best thing to do is a form of cardio that you actually like. For me it’s walking 15 000 steps a day and swimming, for others it’s running or martial art. I’m obese and eating at maintenance calories + weight lifting + walking every day + swimming once in a while got me CRAZY results.

I've worked as a PT for nearly 20 years and I comfortably maintain a sub 10% body fat level all year round at 44 years old. The key to body fat management is prioritising nutrition above everything else, including exercise. Exercise assists the dietary process for managing body fat levels, not the other way around. I allow myself a couple of treats a week because I know that the rest of my diet consists of wholefoods that benefit my health and exercise performance.

All you need to do to get ripped is to eat well and build muscle because of the metabolic aspects of muscle building, it burns fat. However, this doesn't negate the need for cardiovascular exercise. If you're doing cardiovascular exercise to lose weight, then its the wrong objective, the point of cardio is to build health. There are tremendous health benefits to developing higher levels of quality mitochondria in your slow twitch muscle fibers and your overall Vo2 max. However, most people think you need to do anaerobic exercise to develop that, but a high volume of low intensity exercise beneath your aerobic threshold is what builds your aerobic base and pushes up your overall VO2 max. You will develop a better aerobic base and VO2 with a lot of low intensity running or cycling, better than walking, but it also depends on your goals and the level of your biomechanics. Some people need to walk and hike a lot before they develop the neuromuscular resiliency to be able to run without injury. The problem with running is most people start way too fast with the no pain no gain mentality. All the best endurance athletes in the world do 80-90% of their yearly volume at very low intensities because this develops fitness in the way nature intended, but most recreational novice athletes do way way less of their total yearly volume of training at low intensity. That's why they fail either through burn out or injury. Its actually a lack of proper training knowledge that leads people to think running is bad, but its just that people need to work up to it, just like you do with any gym or bodyweight progression. Most people who want to run but have never run before, should actually start with a lot of walking first and slowly layer in some brief run intervals over time, rather than going from zero to a hundred by trying to run 30-60 mins straight off the couch from years of sedentary cardio. you have to earn your right to run and then build your aerobic foundation first before you ever think to run fast. Almost no one does it which is why most people fail with running. There doesn't need to be videos that say no to do cardio - you should do both resistance strength training and cardio - and you should do both with a proper progression and then you get both the health and weight loss benefits. If you don't do any cardio you can be strong and ripped, but you will have little fitness - because fitness isn't strength, fitness is your quality and amount of cellular mitochondria - and you can't build that from resistance training alone. high intensity exercise develops an anaerobic aspect of fitness, but it only develops mitochondria in your fast twitch fibers not your slow twitch. of which we have a huge amount more in our body. Walking is a good start, but at some point its going to be too easy for many people, then you need more resistance (progression) to continue developing cellular mitochondria higher and that's what running or cycling or any other endurance activity is there for. An intermediate to advanced progression

💯 percent I started walking on my 2 breaks I get at my job and I walk on my lunch hour. I get about 80 minutes of walking a day and I am getting shredded and I’m keeping all my muscle!!! When you walk you don’t have to recover and you get to keep all your muscles.! I use to bike 🚴 but, I noticed that every time I got to the third day biking I was so exhausted that I didn’t want to workout 🏋️‍♀️. And I was losing muscle.! Now I look so jacked and getting so ripped and I feel great.! He definitely 💯 on the walking.!

@Vnov93 Жыл бұрын
I disagree. I did intermittent fasting for about 5 months. Worst experience ever. I’m talking cortisol levels through the roof, feeling like dogshit every day, zero erections during the 5 month period (literally), HIIT cardio sessions being harder than usual, and weight room performance drastically decreasing. Not to mention the biggest symptom of all, the extreme anger and irritability day in and day out, ready to snap on the first thing that goes wrong in your day.
@MichaelLesesne
@MichaelLesesne Жыл бұрын
@@Vnov93intermittent fasting is definitely difficult and not for everyone. But, there’s NO DOUBT that it burns fat. It can throw your blood test stats off. It does keep my ldl higher than my doctor would like. But, my hdl compensates.
@Vnov93
@Vnov93 Жыл бұрын
@@MichaelLesesne Oh yeah, it definitely burns fat. But the thing is, I was already around 10% bodyfat when I started it. My goal wasn’t the fat burning benefits. It was all the other shit that people are hyping it up for these days, the increased testosterone (I’m doubting this highly now), increased alertness, focus, happiness, etc. Basically the highly prevalent notion that being in a fasted state and a calorie deficit helps people conquer the world in one day. All I know is, once I stopped the fasting and went back to my normal eating habits, BAM! Literally like a light switch, within 2 hours I felt normal again for the first time. And I didn’t burn any additional fat, so it was just a lot of hormonal and psychological stress for nothing.

@@Vnov93 I feel you. I’m a special case. I’m currently on a cut cycle (2400 cal) per day versus the 3100 my body needs to maintain. I eat all 2400 calories in a 3 hour window around 5 pm. I fast until that time the next day. Physically I feel great and ALL of my vitals are good except for an elevated LDL which I explained to my doctor will always be the case.
@Vnov93
@Vnov93 Жыл бұрын
@@MichaelLesesne Don’t you feel bloated / digestive issues though? That’s how I always felt after eating my 4000 in a 4-6 hour window. Anyways, I feel like the people like you are the majority. Most people praise the fasting. One thing I noticed though, is that all the people in my personal life who were so big on it, none of them were true fitness buffs, most of them are just decently fit guys that hit the gym a couple of times a week and maybe do 20 minutes of cardio here and there. So not really sure what to make of it.

Walking is a "hack" that most don't take advantage of. Body builders have been using this for years. Deliberate walking (treadmill/trail/track etc) is easier on the body/joints and more sustainable (especially mentally) than traditional cardio/HIIT. As in all things fitness/life related...consistency is key.

Walking will definitely help you get there faster and easier. I know from experience that doing 30 minutes of regular cardio every day like the elliptical didn’t really help me all that much when you compare it to just eating less and walking more. Doing that 30 minutes of cardio everyday just got old and boring and made me more stressed out because of how mine numbing it was. It also wasn’t challenging enough to support actually doing it for cardiovascular benefits. So, what I do now is I run about 10-15 minutes after my workouts, I do incline sprints outside twice a week, and sometimes I do stair running. But the workout are a bit shorter, sometimes I’ll go on a longer run because I like running. You don’t have to do what I do, but I do it for the benefits. I like to challenge myself, it literally isn’t for the calorie burn. I’ve noticed when I’m more fit cardiovascular wise, I can push harder in my workouts and things are just easier which equates to more calorie burn passively. And walking helps relieve stress, I just take my dog on a longer hour walk or so. Stress is a big factor when it comes to reaching your fitness goals. Running and walking help relieve stress for me. So it works out.

@@trxndesign3331os it works for way more people as walking is way more sustainable than HIIT for the vast majority of people… because its easy. I personally love HIIT! Its awesome. But you need to remember, by nature people prefer things that present less barriers for entry. And what people find easier/more enjoyable is what theyre more likely to stick to long term. HIIT is incredible, especially when you add intermittent fasting to it. But lets be honest, most people find the idea of being that active daunting. Whereas walking is a piece of cake. And the results are still the same regardless. Calories burned are calories burned. If youre trying to help a client to lose weight, appeal to what they find enjoyable, not what they dont. What they dont enjoy, they will often quit very quickly. But what they do enjoy they will stick to. Thats why all these fitness people promote walking so much. Because it works. Extremely well.

I like to eat a lot of food. Running allows me to be lean and eat like a pig. If I can’t run then I’ll power walk.

😂😂😂😂😂😂walking is good if your only 80 years old and over....if you're a man you got to do the running and weight lifting in the gym. And trust me you can be shredded and fit. I used to do 1 hours running b4 weight lifting in the gym for another 2 and a half hours. And working in building site filling up skips all day. ..I looked shredded but also I had a crazy stamina as well and I'm 48years old..and I did it with no supplement at all just eating food. Now that I'm 48 I've started taking protein and creatine coz my body can't coope with the intensity that I train due to my high metabolism that I have. It's all in the mind and obviously depends how big you want to be. If you want to be big obviously less running...myself I've got a boxer physique so I look medium muscle and stamina...🇦🇱🇦🇱

Running is good for endurance especially when lifting weight even if I’m bulking I still include at least one running session per week

This won't work for obese people, walking at a normal pace as cardio won't trim much fat off your bones. It will make your health healthier for sure but far as trimming down, it will be barely noticeable for already obese folk.

Walking isn’t good cardio at all. I didn’t have a car for years and would walk for hours a day. I was still fat back then though b

I'm sorry man. The minimum requirement is enough, wich is 30 minutes a day. But it would be pretty helpful if people don't use there car so much, to go places close by.
