@@mydumbhandlename The green dragon of the chroma conclave "Ryshawn" has the ability change its form into people and during the fight with "Volrugard" the white dragon , Ryshawn took the form of Larkin(a dwarf fighter). Ryshawn took this form to prevent the "Volrugard" from learning of her betrayal. Before the fight started "Larkin" shows up out of nowhere and everybody realizes that this is Ryshawn in disguise. Just to mess with Matt, Sam/Scalan pretends to not catch on and make a big stink about some random dwarf showing up and how suspicious it is. But the rest of the party in character tells him its "ryshawn" and he needs to stop bringing attention to her. Then the group goes into Scanlan's Manson for one final planing session before they pull the trigger on this fight, when out of nowhere Liam/Vax says the greatest line ever "what are we going to do when our green friend shows up". This is immediately meet by a look of bewilderment by the whole group and they quickly realize that Liam had completely missed out on the whole Larkin being Ryshawn and began to joke around with him. Liam admitting he was spacing out deciding to lean into the joke and after the fight with "Volrugard" ,which resulted in "Ryshawn" dispelling her previous form of "Larkin" and taking on the full dragon form, he joked around about their missing Dwarf friend. He even went so far as to role play with Pike about forming a search party for "Larkin" in the following episode thus the "Larkin Watch" was born.

I on the other hand very much dislike Taliesen as a player and the characters he played. I started with C3 and am working my way backwards so my introduction to him was through Ashton, and boy do I dislike Mr. Greymoore. I went on to kinda dismiss Caduceus and completely despise Mollymauk and Kingsley. However, I absolutely love Percy but I’m still not sure if I like Taliesen. It’s quite odd.

@@goolgepl2112 "like normal people" yeah like a 1 percenter talking to working class / low class people. Percy believes he is always the smartest guy in the room and that he has everything figured out. He rarely admits he is wrong like a few episodes ago where he tries to stab Raishan but it is revealed Raishan is an illusion. Instead of Percy admitting he royally fucked up, he tries to play it off like he knew it was an illusion and was revealing the deception for everyone else. Thank god the rest of the cast roasted him for this and called him out (the cast not the characters so Percy still got off without much reprimanding). Incredibly hypocrical of him since he talked Keyleth down from attacking Raishan during the meeting they found out she was posing as Assum. Percy talks down to a lot of people and comically uses his title as Ruler of Whitestone or talks about how he knows politics despite not actually ruling Whitestone or knowing politics, Cassandra is running Whitestone throughout the campaign and after it and Percy told us all during one of his backstory moments that he never paid attention to politics since he wasn't 1st in line and was more interested in science and technology. I remember Percy lecturing Keyleth on how to be a good leader of people back when VM were considering The Clasp's deal in helping VM during the early parts of the Chroma Conclave's takeover of Tal-Dorei.... ironically Percy has never led his people either so the experience he thinks he has shouldn't be there. Since Percy doesn't have too many moments where these things bite the group in the ass, he's generally forgiven by the fans. I just find Percy so condescending, pompous, and hypocritical.

Well they just fought an ancient white dragon which has an equal challenge rating but with the benefit of flight, while simultaneously fighting a Goristro which is nearly the same challenge rating. The scary thing however, is I don't think a single monster has been its minimum challenge rating in all of Critical Role. Matt has pretty much always beefed them up.

That's because the given challenge rating is for a group of four adventurers of that level. For this group of seven, you need to bump up the CR by at least 2 or so it was for 3.5. Either way, even a being as powerful as a Pit Fiend would have troubles against this big of a group of powerful figures.

Hadn't played D&D in years, Advanced Dungeons and Dragons (2nd Edition?).. Been interested in getting back in, mainly because of these videos. So last night, I went to a local gaming store for their D&D night.. Got immediately invited to join a game. They helped me make a character, bumped me up to 4th level, so I would be even with the rest of the party, and we played for 3 hours. Rhys Causon My prediction is that, if they are lucky, either scanlan or someone that acts before the pit fiend will get a whack of 4 attacks, (maybe even with advantage) and that seeing one character being TKO'ed makes them retreat immediatley. I of course do not know how mean Matt is, if he focuses on one character the first round or not.

I love seeing how different DMs portray different races to tell their respective stories. Matt makes fire giants antagonists, meanwhile I'm in a campaign where my DM has them as the protectors and allies of my character's dwarves clan. I love seeing the broad range of creativity!

Like any society, their actions depend upon their leadership. So, really anything is feasible if you think about it. As long as the leadership is powerful and effective, that is. In this case, they seem to simply be at a disadvantage and are barely survivors, whereas many are aligned with Thordak outside of the Fire Plane for whatever reasons I wasn't really paying enough attention to discern. It's the basis for the entirety of the Chaotic Evil alignment, in a way, as most within this respect *only* power and revel in destruction. Lawful Evil creatures are probably much easier to manipulate and control if you know their motivations and can convince them you're working towards them. But that can really be said for anyone. Sort of a vague statement I just made there, but you get the point.

Pike has 2 sets of gloves vex has 2 bows. A DM might do something like this if the party gets so many items that they optimize for every situation but I feel like Matt here is just lightening their burdon. They couldn't even fill up after slaying the dragon because they walk around with french royalty riches on their adventures.

I find it really adorable how pretty much the entire party is crushing super hard on Sen'okeer (or however you spell that)... and also apparently all kinda want to be his sex slaves for a while - which is totally cool but also really funny. I'm so looking forward to when he reveals what he wants in return because I have this nagging feeling that it's gonna be something our heroes will have a really hard time fulfilling for one reason or another and that will probably put them into a pretty tough spot. Before they went I was totally with Vax in thinking that it was a bad idea to travel all the way to the fire plane this close to their confrontation with Thordak, but _boy_ am I glad they did because the City of Brass fucking _rules!_ Is it Thursday yet?

How many different ways did Matt need to explain deception doesn't work here? Seeming saw though. Alter self saw though. Invisibility saw though. The slave act anyone who took a minute to look saw though it. 32 total deception rolls failed. Percy didn't even get to make a role to cover his attempt at casting on the cards. The pit field saw though them with a passing glance yet they still kept trying. You can see it in matt's face that he didn't know how else to tell them so he went for a direct "you can't fool me" and some of them still didn't get it. It was funny but also insane.

Actually Deception works fine on those with 'Truesight' so long as they cant see something that directly contradicts the lie. Its a visual only thing that breaks through all visual deception not verbal. So when Sam rolled a 31 saying that he had more to offer in the mansion the pit fiend should have technically at least considered going into the mansion. There was a lot more nuance to this interaction than you make out. I'm guessing that Matt was accounting for the fact that visually the 'slavers' weren't who they appeared to be but still had real 'angel bloods' and real promises of more for sale. Or he just didn't want to give them the easy win. Likely a balance of both. A deception role is very powerful, technically if you succeed the lie is believed. If it breaks the interaction the GM should create something that challenges for more rolls, like not fitting through the door.
