Set my 6 node network up today. I am on Virgin Media 200 mbps and I am getting an indicated 220 mbps absolutely everywhere in a 12 room double fronted terrace with internal brick walls. It was soooo easy to set up, not a single glitch. Very happy with the Deco, Highly Recommended!

I could never get wifi into my shed with aluminum covering on the interior walls 40ft away with orbi mesh or spectrum's wifi 6 untill I purchased the 3 pack TP link M5. With a 100 mbps internet speed I get (with the door closed and sealed I'm getting 65 mbps and NOW able to stream moves, use the phone and have full bars to the edge of may 2 1/2 car garage and to the end of the property line approx 150 ft away and now I'm not dropping out my cameras in both ft and rear of the house. LOVE THIS SYSTEM!!!!!!

I just replaced my Archer C7 and AC1750 range extender with a set of 3 of these M5 and so far they work much better. Getting about 60% faster speeds than before in my garage office. Now we wait and see if the "freezing" still happens. The C7 would often go to the "connected but no internet" state and I would have to reboot or disable/enable the client or reboot the router. This used to happen several times a week and is the main reason I just replaced it.

most bang for the buck! Easily the best mesh you can buy under 400 dollars, and believe me ive tried a few.. I had a bad luck with google wifi, so i tried asus lyra instead.. warning! lyra = worst overpriced crap ever made.. Buggy cheap chinese app from hell, and disconnected and refused connecting some of my devices.. got this deco instead and they work like a charm.. reminds me of google wifi, but i managed to max out my 100/100mbit over this one.. With google i had a struggle reaching over 65-70 on the node 2 rooms from my wall outlet.. Buy the Deco.. my advice! great app, less speed loss, great stable strong connection

Didn't understand the comments at the end about wireless setup versus wired setup. Do you have to do the initial setup in wireless mode and then you can connect them wired for best stability? Or are you saying that a wired connection between the units is never possible?

After installing the first Deco (Mother node) (directly to the ISP's router), do the remaining 2 nodes (nodes B and C) have to be in range of the mother node? Or is it enough for node B to be in range of the Mother node and node C to be in range of node B? P.S. Found your reviews for this and the Linksys Velop very very helpful!!

These do work with a wired backhaul. I've seen other videos demonstrating this working. Maybe it wasn't working properly in the firmware at the time you reviewed it? It'd be great if you had a screen capture for your phone screen so we can clearly see what you're showing. Anyhow, a nice summary of these units. I'm still torn between the Deco M5, Eero and Asus Lyra Trio.

I guess I will choose this Deco M5 set. I was also considering Tenda Nova MW6 but it lacks some advanced settings and antivirus & protection features. I hope M5 will meet my requirements. Otherwise, I will change to tri-band mesh solution like TP-Link Deco M9, D-Link COVR-2202 or Zyxel Multy X.
@mahmudulhassanhasib3816
@mahmudulhassanhasib3816 4 жыл бұрын
Tri-Band is definitely better because of the dedicated 5Gz line the routers keep for wireless back haul. I use Netgear Orbi RBK50 and its excellent. I wish we could buy a 3-pack version here or another satellite for cheaper. 1 Satellite costs like 70% of a new 2 pack Orbi RBK50. Deco M9 is better in a way that you can get 3 pack roughly the same cost as Orbi.
@drzefkovitsh
@drzefkovitsh 4 жыл бұрын

@mahmudulhassanhasib3816
@mahmudulhassanhasib3816 4 жыл бұрын
@@drzefkovitsh We can get the 3-pack here, it costs same as a orbi rbk50 2 pack. But spec and performance wise orbi is better (yet very costly). Moreover, deco supports multiple deco units to be added in the mesh (even other deco models) but orbi supports only 2 satellite. So do some calculations, see if you'll ever need to increase satellites, then proceed. These are costly investments and you might regret if things don't work out.
@drzefkovitsh
@drzefkovitsh 4 жыл бұрын
@@mahmudulhassanhasib3816 sure, first I will try with two devices, one per each house level. Maybe it will be enough.
@mahmudulhassanhasib3816
@mahmudulhassanhasib3816 4 жыл бұрын
@@drzefkovitsh Good luck. The 2.4Gz goes really far but it's the 5Gz band which has trouble penetrating wall and has much less range than 2.4Gz. Deco is better in a way that all the Satellites are equal or same as router (you can use any satellite as the router and vice versa). So removing or including is extremely easy. But the orbi is fixed. 1 router and 1 satellite. I'm thinking about getting the deco when I move to a bigger house.

Just purchased this on Amazon and it looks like a nice setup and you can't beat the price but I didn't know there were PRIVACY concerns. From my understanding, the Deco mesh network is always connected to the company's cloud which collects all of your personal information and browsing data - they also have the right to sell this to other parties. This is just creepy. I am returning it unless someone can clarify this. If anyone knows of a mesh setup that doesn't require connectivity to the company or at least opt out - let me know. Keeping home network private is a MUST for me. Sad - I was hoping this would have worked out.

Thank you! A question, the wired setup over ethernet is important to me, and other reviewers said it will work. Have you troubleshooted it some more?
@Marshallld
@Marshallld 7 жыл бұрын
Mikael Tilly I just set up the Deco. It does work with Ethernet but you have it seems you have to set it up with wireless first do the update to all the units. My set is Deco 1 in the basement connected to my modem that is connect to a switch. On the switch is my office computer and a NAS, plus a 100' Ethernet wire connected to Deco 2. The Deco 2 is on the 1st floor and is connected to Deco 3 wirelessly on the 2nd floor. My bedroom is one room over from Deco 3 and I'm getting a wireless signal just as strong as in the same room as Deco 1.

@@Marshallld Do you know if the wireless backhaul is automatically disconnected when you use the wired backhaul? Also can the wired backhaul be on the same network? Lastly...can routing be turned off and be used as an access point? I want to use my existing router as the main gateway, dhcp services, etc. -thanks
@Marshallld
@Marshallld 4 жыл бұрын
Tim Smith I believe the wireless back haul is disconnected automatically. It also can operate just as a mesh network with an external router ahead of it.

@@Marshallld Thanks....I need to keep my existing router (and wireless) intact and want to leave DCHP services up to them too. My ISP will be moving to new setup boxes for CATV that uses wifi but they only support it over their router. The mesh is to fill in hole for the rest of the devices. So hopefully these will operate in bridge mode too. Think I'll order one today from Amazon and if it doesn't work out I'll ship it back. Thanks for the reply and input.

Some of my 5g devices connect to 2,4g. Is there any reason for this
@johnj28
@johnj28 4 жыл бұрын
Probably has to due with network congestion or distance. 5g is faster but doesn't travel through walls well.
@GeekSmart

It may be a connection issue with distance or interference

Does this replace my existing router?
@kevincody8391
@kevincody8391 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, or I should say ideally, you don Yes, or I should say ideally. You don't want two routers competing and possibly interfering w each other. If you have a combo modem router you should put the modem in bridge mode. With some combo modem routers it is easy to do via an admin program or an app, others require typing in an address and a set of commands. If you aren't a tech type you might gasp at the ten lines of what seems like a foreign language, just take a deep breath and apply the salami solution = one slice at a time.

Does the first deco seriously require ethernet connection? Every youtuber shows only this method. I need a wi-fi mesh that connects to my already existing wi-fi and not run it as a stand alone replacement but manufacturers dont really give enough info prior to purchase.

If money is no object how would you rank all the various systems you have reviewed?
@GeekSmart
@GeekSmart 7 жыл бұрын
+Brian Dostie the Orbi is the fastest mesh system I have tested so far, but per node the most expensive. The most cost effective is the deco. In my opinion the best setup or App has to go to the eero. And the ones that work wired or wirelessly is the Velop or eero. If money was no object, I would choose between the Orbi or Velop for speed and flexibility, but the deco is also the only one that secures itself, so there is also that. There is no best system, only the one that fits you the best.

+Brian Dostie I have not had a chance to test the google WiFi product, but I have always been a huge fan and user of the Apple Routers, however I cannot currently recommend them due to their aging status, most of the newer offerings are quite a bit faster

The deco app is USELESS. I purchased the Deco E3, have tried x 2 to install and get "no internet" from my computer; however, according to the 1 page "too small to read" instructions that come with the unit when the white light is illuminated it is internet ready. Not so. It's now gathering dust.

I really don't understand why people "like the fact that is has USB-C power" on some devices. Would you like your fridge or doorbell to be USC-C powered? That usbC port+cable is very-very-very f**kin' FRAGILE!! and it helps with NOTHING if it only powers the device. I hope Apple doesn't change the iphone lightning port to usb-Crap, and remove the usbC charging from laptops, and many other examples. Sorry for my rage on an unrelated video, but I see this very often and it makes me crazy, why everybody wants this typeC all over their devices. I am using an expensive dongle on my Macbook Pro M1 (work laptop, didn't choose it, would never buy it), to connect my external monitor and other mice, keyboards (which of course they have USB-A dongles in 2021), and every time I f***ing move the laptop, the usb-Crap port is not perfect and my monitor disconnects.
