I think the problem with the Jedi is that when they did reforms or made changes, It turned out those reforms were mostly terrible ideas when looking back. The no family no attachment lead to Anaken falling because of his fear, them not being a military force anymore lead to them not knowing how to lead the army's during the Clone Wars, them becoming subservient to the government made it that they get tie up by bureaucracy and politics that allow evil like slavery to thrive or them being pawns to politicians like what happen to Grevious planet or them with the Jango and Super Commando.

Bane was incredible intelligent in how the Sith should now operate for the next thousand years. Reviving Star Wars Legends as an ongoing alternate continuity would be no different. Nobody gets confused by Marvel having multiple continuities, so it's not like it should be a problem for Star Wars to have a mere 2. Yes, Legends had Darth Krayt's Sith Empire. Along with an assortment of minor Sith cults that survived in obscuring during the Rule of Two era and beyond.
@joesalyers Жыл бұрын
Bane's ideology had 1 fatal flaw. If one of the Sith were to be turned and kill the other, the lineage would be extinct. Sure it lasted for thousands of years but it could have easily ended in a single generation. Had Zannah been turned or her apprentice it could have ended the Rule of Two before it really began. It was a good idea but 3 would have been better, since odd numbers always play to the houses favor when gambling, this is why fighting has odd number rounds and slot machines have 3 wheels of chance that you need to match to win. So if the Sith Grand Plan is the house goal it is better to gamble on a odd number so that if 2 Sith go to war with each other and both die the odd Sith out can carry on the dynasty. It all comes to an end when Vader Kill Sidious and had there been 3 Sith the story would be very different. This is why Rome had Triumvirate leadership and odd numbers are always better for the house or in this case the Sith to win. Also it helps if there is another Sith in the Shadows waiting for the Storylines. Just my thoughts as a Star Wars casual fan so don't roast me in the comments LOL.
@coggnus9656 Жыл бұрын
It was less about guaranteeing success and rather about whether they deserved to succeed. In an instance where Bane thought Zannah betrayed he ask what he had been killed as a result of Zannah not helping him, Zannah responded that if he did die he it would prove that he was unfit for the mantle of Dark Lord of the Sith that he would have deserved to die and he agreed with her. As for why he didn’t have two apprentices, it would incentivize them to gang up on him rather than 1v1 which means that no matter what the outcome the new master would always be weaker than the original.
@joesalyers Жыл бұрын
@@coggnus9656 Oh I understand the reasoning behind it, I just think for the overarching story arc it could have helped if now in the timeline Luke and Asoka were worried about not only Thrawn but the unknown New Dark Lord they didn't know of. But I love the original Bane Trilogy. I was just talking abut how if Vader and Sidious had 1 more in their gang the war for the Empire versus the New Republic wouldn't be so boring. But thats just my opinion. We need a big bad in Star Wars right now and Thrawn is a great character but he isn't the same level of threat as a Sith or some other force user, but a threat like Thrawn with a Sith could be an epic fight to overcome in Star Wars.

Funny, cause it also means the Sith are more vulnerable; Less likely to find secrets across the Galaxy without more, unique individuals. If the Master dies and the apprentice also dies, then you loose TONS of knowledge and progress. Sidious' own master, Plagieus, was angry when they both nearly died in a trap Palpatine organized, or so I've been told by those who read that part of the EU. Then, as Bane feared, what if a master gets weak due to unforseen circumstances, then the Apprentice doesn't really have to kill him by surpassing them, only getting lucky And, look at what happened with Palpatine, he died and Vader also died shortly after, sundering the Rule of Two dynamic right then. Look how long their Dark Line continued, 30 Dark Lords. Over all this time, they schemed and planned, and it all culminated in Palpatine ruling for... 20 odd years? What a grand plan indeed
@RedXlV Жыл бұрын
Yep, Bane solved one aspect of how the Sith weaken themselves with infighting, but weakened the Sith in a different way in the process. In the end, it's just that Sith ideology itself is fundamentally flawed. A Sith can gain immense power, but it's a self-destructive form of power. Nothing you to do try to work around the problems inherent to the dark side will make those problems actually go away.

This is where the answer decisively splits between Legends and nu-Canon. Prior to where the movies start, it's not actually that important to distinguish between the two continuities. Almost all Legends material up to and including the Darth Plagueis novel (chronologically speaking, not in terms of publication date) is 100% compatible with nu-Canon. Which is why huge chunks of it have been restored to canon already. But once the movies start, Legends and nu-Canon are no longer possible to reconcile and *have* to be looked at as 100% separate storylines.

The Rule Of 2 was based on Revan's ideology of having a empire of darksiders being ruled by 2 powerful Sith Lords who are master and apprentice, during his time in the Jedi Civil War, preparing the galaxy against three True Sith. Bane admired the young Sith Lord despite knowing Revan title as a Sith was a facade and his redemption, but he find his ideas effective. I always wonder that after Bane and Zannah's deaths, the Sith under Rule Of 2 was struggling with their plans of revenge and was nearly destroyed multiple of times, even broken the rule before Sidious time. Despite the Rule of 2 ended in the second Death Star. The Sith still inspire the Rule Of 2 despite it's fall. Because it did what the Sith in the past do. Adapt to survive.
@theodoremccarthy4438 Жыл бұрын
The Sith’s problem was not a contradiction in their ideology, rather it was that every ideology is fundamentally incomplete. No ideology can exist in isolation. It can only be fully expressed in the context of a deeper culture and heritage. The New Sith never had access to the Old Sith culture and so could never achieved a lasting victory even after beating the Republic and Jedi back to the Core. Meanwhile, the grand plan of the Banite Sith bore fruit because it was embedded in the culture and heritage of the Rublic itself: co-opting and working through the Republic’s institutions.

There certainly were other Sith, they just were'nt in the succession line. Have I got that right? I would think so, as there's nothing really stopping others from becoming "Sith" it was just that they were simply pawns in the "Master Lord's" plans. Any light on this provided by others, much appreciated. :)

That self-destruction is inherent to being Sith. Bane wasn't trying to get rid of it, which was impossible without becoming something other than Sith. He was trying to focus it so that the order itself would survive the process. Which only worked temporarily. What Bane was unable or unwilling to see is that becoming something other than Sith is *exactly the solution.*

🤔 . . . This is more of a fanfic, but a video where a pseudo-Death Star is sent of to invade another galaxy far far away after a long time of multi-generational travel…
