I mean depends on where you were. Some of the places were extremely safe or to heavily defended to get attacked easily. But the places that weren't really weren't, the bad places were extremely bad. Also knowledge on the dark side was easier to obtain, before the Sidious era the jedi had a habit of destroying any sith items they came across. Making it a pain to get real info on the dark side. Were as in the old era the Jedi had the policy of locking it up, and they had so many sith temples knowledge was much easier to obtain. So a lot of old powerful dark side techniques became lost to time.

You have to give it to Sidious, though. His purge was the only one deemed legal, legitimate, and to an extent even celebrated by the Republic. Revan's was an invasion, the Triumvirate's was an act of terror, and the Sith Empire's was an act of war. Sidious made the galaxy root for the Jedi's destruction.

To be fair, the Jedi themselves had little say in the matter. It was Palpatine that decided to accept the clonetroopers as the Republic's military force. He pretty much decided that himself, and the Jedi were left in a position of either sitting on the sidelines or accepting the use of the clonetroopers. And the Jedi were in a position where they'd recently just "discovered" that one of their former members, Count Dooku, was now a Sith Lord and leading the opposition forces. From the Jedi's perspective, Dooku was an existential threat to them and the Republic and they had a responsibility to do something about an ex-Jedi. The details are pretty important and do a lot to show just how...insidious and clever Darth Sidious' plan really was. Palpatine left them in a position where they feel like they had to take action. But the only way to take action was to unsuspectingly do so on Palpatine's terms.

The problem was that by the time this was discovered it was too late. the war had begun and the jedi could not simply pull out of it and let innocents burn while they did nothing - they had done soin the past and it shattered the republic. Palpatine had trapped them. @Wes Bradley-Taubner Putting aside the fact that 'saddest' anything is basically utterly subjective and up to viewer whims, well...yes, to be quite fucking frank, the Clone Wars DID surpass the Old Republic era wars in scale and devastation. This...really isn't up for debate. The vast majority of the wars in the earlier eras were inherently more limited fundamentally just by virtue of the Republic being smaller, if nothing else. Add in that almost none of them bar the TOR ones and the New Sith Wars ever came so much as close to touching the Core, where the overwhelming majority of the galaxies population and industry is concentrated, and yes, the Clone Wars beats any single individual conflict (bar the New Sith Wars) by a decent margin at best, and by a fucking landslide at worst. And it stills beats out most even if you stack them onto of each other. Like I said, the ONLY true exception is the New Sith Wars, which were quite possibly the single most devastating conflict in SW, bar shit like the war in the Vong's home galaxy or such.

You...do realize the contexts are utterly incomparable, right? The Triumvirate were dealing with (more mopping up, truthfully speaking) the shattered remnants of an order that had just been utterly spent and exhausted dealing with not just one, not two, but THREE galactic scale conflicts, all of which involved the enemy heavily focusing on dealing with them. By the time the Jedi Civil War was over, its doubtful if there was more then a few thousand Jedi left, most of which would be either isolated, or concentrated in specific temples and such. Add in the Triumvirate had the massive advantage of being a gurellia force almost ENTIRELY hyper-specialized on dealing with Force users, and...yeah, no shit they nearly killed the Jedi? If they had tried pulling that routine off even a few years earlier, it would be a different story.

Giving either of them a little push over the cliff is hardly impressive compared to the Rule of Two Sith managing to bring down and topple both the Jedi AND Republic at their respective heights in power, simultaneously. For the Triumvirate, no, their gurellia tactics almost certainly would NOT have been just as effective a few years ago, because a few years ago would have during the Jedi Civil War, when the Jedi still had semi-substantial numbers, and weren't broken into pieces. The assassins and Sion could be solved by simply killing them whenever they popped up, or in the latters case, dumping him out an airlock in deep space or whatever. The Triumvirate Sith were dangerous, but they aren't unbeatable, and we know they still struggled even killing some famous Jedi, albeit ones in hiding, up to and including a galactic war hero like Bastilia and her kid. And once AGAIN, stop fucking trying to compare what the Rule of Two Sith pulled off and the Triumvirate. They are both nearly incomparable due to the different contexts, but ultimately, what the ROT Sith did was INFINITELY more impressive simply by virtue of NOT fighting against a near-dead Republic and Jedi.

The Triumvirate and Rule of Two era sith came the closest to ultimate victory over the Jedi without being warriors leading armies and conquering like a traditional empire would. Interestingly, the Sith Triunvirate suffered was defeated only because Nihilus and Sion betrayed Darth Traya and then, she joined forces with the jedi exile Meetra Surik to defeat them. If her apprentices didn't betray her, there is no telling how powerful the Triunvirate could have become and how helpless the Republic would have been. This is one of the things that makes star wars so lovable, there is always a background that explains why the heroes could do what they did. They don't do the whole work, but rather they are the final part of a great chain of events that made the bad guys lose the fight. It makes it feel so real, as in our world the events behave in a similar fashion 💝

Palpatine was probably the most benevolent of all the Sith. He concentrated himself in destroying the Jedi Order which he succeeded, and the creation of the Empire. Other Sith Lords like Nihilus used famine to starve the Galaxy to death in order to pursue his agenda and force cohersion. Revan anf Bane had it the worse, during that Old Republic time in which the Sith was a powerful organization and they were actively fighting both the Old Republic and Jedi at the same time.

A darksider is weaker when the Dark Side is shared among many. And the troopers who were beating Sith in the face were elites, at least as skilled and as well equipped as clone troopers. Prequel levels of technological innovation would be significant edge in their era.

@@lanesmith1465 that's not true, the dark side is infinite, just as the force is. In reality, it's simply that sith teaching of the time was incredibly flawed. I mean, there was a possibility of light side sith. The sith of the period were utter failures and a blemish on the sith tradition.

Go re-read the Revan book. During the Kotor games the core worlds were never touched until swotor. It was only the outer rim and parts of the mid rim that they were killed off. The core worlds Jedi cut their losses and like the republic was doing left the rest of the galaxy for dead. Meetra's Jedi reestablished the Jedi order in the outer rim and mid rim

tame, idk, it was different, it was basically Palpi telling Jedi 'oh stop hitting yourself' kind of scenario and achieved pretty much a total victory as he beaten both Jedi and the Republic. it might not have been flashy, like eating planets or crashing into jedi temple, but it was very effective and cunning.

This video pretty much proves to me why KOTOR I/II is some of the best star wars we'd ever been given. The writting and the overall feeling that these games gave you is imesurable. Maybe its the way Geet explained how both Nihilus and Sion exerted pain and suffering into their victims but still. Like it knew Malachor V was a dark and corrupted place but like if you step foot their you either succum to the corruption and turn to the dark or die there and become part of the problem is just.. wow! And I really didn't know is that there is a group of sith assassins who had power similar in ability but not in power to Nihlus' who drain the very escense from their targets.

I've arrived to conclusion that Ancient / Old Siths were leagues ahead of "modern" ones - Nihilus & his unique condition aside & Scion's refusal to die - there are literally dozens of characters who from my perspective make Sidious look like a child in his endevours - Ragnos surely commands admiration, but one who really fascinated me was Valkorion / Vitiate - his ~1300 years VS Sidious 20+(?) years......well Palps just sux on jawbreaker & takes notes on how things should be done 😂

Before Sidious the only ones to successfully purge the Jedi was the KOTOR 2 Sith mainly since Revan and Malak already did most of the job for them. Malgus attacking the temple was an astonishing feat but just as Anakin had done the temple was attacked while the majority of its strongest Masters were away. The only real Jedi left there at the time we’re a contingent of younglings, knights on guard duty, a few masters, and padawans.

The Triumvirate pales in comparison to the atrocities of Vitiate. Not only did he eat 2 planets, but he orchestrated massacres on many more, all in an effort to create so much death it would allow him to consume the entire galaxy. Even his other projects like the Eternal Empire caused so much death and destruction that all added together, he caused more death, destruction, and suffering than any Sith up until Palpatine.
