Was literally just talking to my husband about getting geffen baby products the last few days. We really want to stop using disposables overnight for my toddler. I really needed this video. thanks! Maybe the fladdle with a bamboo insert... Or maybe a hemp fleece prefold in the next size down could work for him.. 🤔🤔🤔 I'm not decided. He's a front wetter belly sleeper.

For a toddler I'd say hemp fleece prefold would be your best bet for a solid nighttime diaper. The prep time sucks but boy-oh-boy are they absorbent!!

@@JaysNest prepping always sucks. We wash every other day currently and so I can just throw them in with that, and i have a feelings i will be doung plenty more washes soon. (Baby girl will be here Oct 29th) 2 babies means lots of diapers. 😬😬

Anytime now 😍 How exciting! We were doing diaper laundry every day when Willow was born. I also prep diapers by washing them with dirty diaper laundry. I feel like that's one of the best ways to prep

If your boy is a front sleeper I would really recommend a cover/pocket with front elastics, like Rumparooz or Buttons covers and Applecheeks or AMP pockets!

I had the hemp fleece fladdles and they were smooth on one side. I feel lile with the hemp fleece prefold they should have had a smooth sides out or at least one smootb side. But i guess if you use a liner or put it in a pocket it doesn't matter too much

I know they also have a jersey prefold. I haven't trued that one though. I wonder how difference they are in absorbency. I like the knitted side on the fladdle. It would be cool to see a smooth side on the fleece prefold too. My main concern for long term use with the fleece prefold is how rough it'll get over time. So a smooth side might give an option to not use the fleece side if we don't want to.

I've tried their inserts the nb quick absorber and the nb super absorber, because the nb super absorber has the fleece side, I know what you mean in terms of the softness kind of going away but the absorbency is worth it lol I also have the jersey flat but my little one is only a month so I haven't tried it yet!

The absorbency is definitely there and that's what matters most to me! I think over time all fabrics start to wear though. I think cloth diaper fabrics really wear down because they are washed constantly.

I use mu sloomb fitteds only for nighttime and if it was to be worn during the day I would definitely think it was a waist of absorbency!

Love the fladdle flat. I only have 2 in my nappy stash, wish i could have more but my local retailer stops stocking them :( they are great for nap and night time with geffen insert for my toddler. Now i am expecting a second, i stock up my stash with jersey prefolds from geffen. Hope it will work out as well as fladdle.

The jersey isn't as absorbent as the fladdle but I really liked it for the newborn stage. It's trim enough to be a booster as your baby gets older, too. I'm liking the sizing of the fladdle more than the jersey flat.

Not related to Geffen baby buttttt I just got two FOTW green apple twist flats and they were soooo soft when I got them (used) and now they are not. I finally understand, that stinkin’ dryer did it! I always dry everything on medium (except covers). I wonder if I stop drying them if they’ll regain any softness. 🤔

Stretchy flats will also lose softness from putting them in the dryer! I know Mrs.Meyers has a "green"/ natural fabric softener. Fabric softeners are a no-no with cloth diapers, but everyone I've talked to says the Mrs. Meyers is okay. Supposedly it works really well to soften things up! I think I need to try it out soon. My stretchy flats are losing softness. My Stashify Flat seems to be the only one that has held it's softness and I bought it in well loved condition. It's old and the brand doesnt exist anymore.

I use Mrs Meyers fabric softener and it doesn’t affect my diapers absorbency at all! I have been using it for over a year and a half with no issues. Makes them super soft and if you don’t wanna do it all the time you can do a soak with water and Mrs Meyers fabric softener every once in a while and it will bring the softness back! Works great on any materials that Sherpa or get rough like a towel too!! :) highly recommended.

When prepping (pre-washing) do/could you just add them with your regular clothes that way it doesn't seem like such a chore? I wish companies would just pre-wash them before reaching the consumer. :-/

Oh yes! Absolutely. I wash with clothes & diaper laundry. I can't justify prepping 1-2 things by themselves. That seems like a waste of energy to me lol. Also I'm just lazy

I have 20 lb 18 month old twins and can’t decide between the m/l or xl prefold. Any advice?

I dont have experience with the m/l so I'm not sure what would be best. Scarlett is 24lbs and she's 2, if that helps any. She's a heavy wetter at night. We couldn't probably get away with m/l, but every baby/child needs something a little different. Nicki's diapers has a 15day wash & try program so you can try it out and if you don't like it then you can return it: www.nickisdiapers.com/geffen-baby-organic-prefold.html Here's info about the 15day wash program: www.nickisdiapers.com/15-day-wash.html Geffen has great info on their site about sizing and absorbency of each prefold. Here's the information directly from their site: *M/L:* 16”x18.5” before washing, 13.75”x15.25” after washing, absorbs approximately 16-17 ounces - Use in M/L diapers and on crawlers/walkers *XL:* 18”x21.5” before washing, 16”x18.25”” after washing, absorbs approximately 23-24 ounces - Use in XL/toddler diapers, or folded for smaller babies

Depends on the absorbency your baby needs because it varies from baby to baby. Geffen does have cotton prefolds. I haven't tried them though. I've been using the jersey flat since she was born. I could pad fold it for daytime. For nighttime I'd use the jersey flat + newborn quick absorber. The quick absorbers were a must for my baby during the newborn stage. I used it as a doubler/booster with other diapers like aios. If your baby isn't a heavy wetter then you could get away with just a newborn hemp insert.

@@mapsyleta that’s alright! And yes 😊 all the layers sewn together is what makes it a prefold. A flat is just 1 single layer and a prefold has multiple layers
