It's unfortunate that we didn't get to see Gegard stay in UFC & compete against the later wave of athletes & potentially challenge for the championship. He's a solid, well rounded fighter & has an entertaining humorous personality. UFC lowballed him & didn't want to pay the man his worth. Gegard Mousasi, a top 5 ?, middle of all time had/ has the best chin of all time. Hasn't been knocked out in over 2 decades in mma/ cage fighting ( think about that ). The loss to Uriah was a tko and a different ref - maybe he continues to get to his knees. He beats him 49/50 x. Arguably the best jab of all time . My biggest problem with Gegard is if he had only made himself " uncomfortable " in his training as he entered his prime . I remember his 2nd contract with UFC . The guy who beat up Chris ( one fight removed from being champ) couldve went on to be the best ever. His striking was his bread & butter but never " really " worked on his stand up. Always a bit flatfooted and if he wouldve trsined in the states with a Hume or a Perillo ....or a cordeiro , he wouldve been a 2 weight champ in UFC- no doubt. Hes 38 but a stubborn 38 so id like to see him fight a brunson ( should win on raw talent alone - they were supposed to fight at ufc 200). He lost his bellator title coming to Connecticut a whooping 30 lbs overweight and 24 over a day before weigh ins. He fought with his mouth open for the entirety of fight agsinst a guy like Eblen. John dominated fight but couldnt hurt or put a mark on mousasi.

It doesn't matter if the previous owners renegotiated his contract for $1 more than the old contract or a billion dollars more than the old contract. It's still business fraud and unfortunately most sassy won't be entitled to any of the teems of the new contract
