I ordered a smaller size gelli plate but got sent a big 12x14 by mistake for the same price. So I've cut mine up and have different sizes. Brilliant idea printing on fabric, wonderful patterns!

MadHatters Original I ordered a smaller size gelli plate but got sent a big 12x14 by mistake for the same price. So I've cut mine up in different sizes. So that's a possibility if you feel the plate is too big after a while.

Half of the first print you did looks like a wonky bookshelf with lots of books on it, very cool!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This demo is perfect for me as it shows me how to achieve exactly what I want to do with momo printing- creating fabrics for quilting and/or bag making! Your demo was clear and concise and totally inspirational as I now know that what I’m imagining in my head is absolutely possible to create. BTW...you pulls of the almost calligraphic swirls reminds me of the work of artists Nancy Crow and Mark Tobey. Well done!

Very cool prints! I want the large plate for printing on bandannas, but don't have a table that's big enough. New table first, then large plate, then off the races.

I’m a longarmer and find this concept fascinating. I need to do some training on paper first, maybe, but using the small gelli shapes to make prints on low volume fabric could be lots of fun even without the mondo-plate. Thanks!

I hope you will try it! These kinds of prints make for great whole cloth quilts.

I got beading again on my plate after i cleaned it with mineral oil. must not have cleaned all the oil off. worth a try to experiment with. i made some cool prints with it when that happened.

I love this!!! I have several t-shirts that have small stains on them and I'd love to try it with that. Will this work with t-shirt material? If so, it would be a great way to recycle favorite old clothes.

You can print on whatever material you'd like.

Love the beading effect. Have you looked into dendritic printing. It's not the same, and I'm not sure if you can do it on a gelliplate, but gives beautiful organic prints!

Sarah Bayly Just watched a lady do this type printing with 2 sheets of glass. I reckon 2 gelli plates on top of each other with the paint in between would make the same effect.

This definitely has made me want to have a go. But gelli plates are expensive! I've found some videos about how to make your own but I need one that's not only cheap but also as big as possible. Has anyone tried making one with white neoprene fabric, perhaps covered with acrylic sheet of even clingfilm?

does the paint need to be fixed with vinegar in order not to bleed through? It is beautiful. Just getting started with this

These are absolutely fabulous prints! I want to print on huge pieces of fabric to make garments out of. Is it possible to repeat a pattern over and over? Would it be better to print after the garment is sewn, while the fabric is still whole, or after the pieces are cut out but before sewn?
@BalzerDesigns4 жыл бұрын
Personally, I like to print when the fabric is flat.

@@BalzerDesigns Instead of “thanks for the suggestion” you ask for money to improve your video. You don’t have a few pieces of white paper or an old sheet to put under your plate?

of course, the Gelli plate makers have sent that to you for free because they want you to motivate more people so they can sell more. For everyone out there who has never done this kind of technique, BE VERY MUCH AWARE!! this is not as easy as the videos make it look. I wasted a lot of money and time and was not successful. If anything almost traumatized me and made me feel so incompetent. I am renowned for not giving up and have done complicated art to a good standard. In any case all the best of luck.

I have taught hundreds of people how to use a gelatin plate - both in person and in my online class: A Year of Gelatin Printing. My students have all been successful. I’ve never had anyone say it was hard. Have you ever taken a class? Or just tried on your own?
