Hey Mark I have the micro regular. I love the GEM razors. I love it when you shave with vintage razors, please keep making videos using them.

Another great video as always and no better way to start a Saturday morning 👍✌️-I wish my Grandpa was still around (b.1909) so I could talk to him about his shaving over the years 👍

That’s the same year my Uncle Pete was born. I inherited his Gem Micro Matic and also an Otto Roth brass OC. I think they look a bit medieval 😳 but am going to use them soon!😂

Thank you, James. Yes, I'd love to talk to my late father to get some shaving tips and tricks, too.

Love the gem open comb. I usually can get under the nose by tilting the head

What a coincidence. This week has been a Gem week. So far I've used the g-bar, micromatic oc and clog proof, and this morning the junior. Sunday will be the bullet tip.This one is the mildest. For best efficiency is the OC but my favorite is the g-bar. The best looking imho. Oh by the way these are head shaves. I shaved my beard of 40 plus years last June. I am now growing it back now. Have you used a Gem for a head shave? I don't believe I've seen a video but only being about a year old in George years I certainly have seen all your shaves. Be well. I look forward to Monday shaves with 3mb and a vintage Gillette. Congratulations on the upcoming 10k subscribers.

Nice shave, Mark! I paid less than $10 for my GEM 1912, and it outshaves all my expensive modern razors. I find the 1912s a little more mild than the Micromatic, but just as efficient. I once found some GEM style blades in the shaving aisle at the supermarket that said multi-purpose blades, but one of the words on the front of the package was "shaving." I was skeptical because I didn't know the brand, but it said shaving, and it was in the shaving aisle. I knew within 1/4 inch that it was NOT for shaving!! I think that's what waxing must feel like.

Wow! Nice price. And yes, careful where you get the blades for the Gem razors:)

Nice shave and interesting razor. Have you seen the Phoenix Starling V2 single edge Razor? Very similar. I know your video today is about vintage razors, but I was just curious. PAA also has an assortment of blades for your razor. Have a great weekend Mark. 👍👍👍

Bill, I've seen the Starling, but have not really investigated it. Thak! Plus, nice to know I can get blades at PAA! Never knew this! Thank you!

@MarkSzorady another masterclass in wet shaving products and techniques. I'm really a big fan of The Gem Micromatic clog pruf razor. If that was my introduction to traditional wet shaving, i would have been happy with it as my only razor. Fortunately, I feel down the rabbit hole 😂. The Leaf Twig/Thorn razor, in my opinion, is a modern style homage to The Gem Micromatic clog pruf razor. Same like The Supply SE is a modern-day homage to The Schick Injector razor.

Jason, interting take on the Leaf Twig. I never looked at it that way. Interesting.

Nice close shave. $5 each for those Gem Micromatic razors was a steal. I did see they are $12 to $30 on eBay which is not a bad price for anyone wanting one. Having watched your review, I still prefer to use a standard DE safety razor. But it was informative.
@MarkSzorady Жыл бұрын
Thanks, Bart. Using the Gem is a nice change of pace.:) Yes, price might be going up a bit on these.

Usually the later the model of gem razor the milder the shave.

Mark, what would you recommend in cleaning and polishing a brass plated Clogpruf?
@silverwiskers7371 Жыл бұрын
i'm old enough to remember these razors very popular until the bic disposables rendered them near obsolete, that is the kicker is men are going back to these types for several reasons and price is the main one, a man don't need those expensive multi blade gimmicks. vintage razors are making shaving great again

Where can you purchase a new Gem
@santaclaus179 Жыл бұрын
I just bought 3 gem razors , very old but still very nice , also included gem 3 facet blades , really I wanted these razors only to check how they work, also today came via amazon a twig razor , tomorrow will use this one with single side blades ( half of de blades ), also bought via amazon another 300 half blades , nevertheless I have around 6000 de blades in my blade den haha, regards mark

They're cheap because they are really hard to shave with. I've got a drawer full and a bunch of blades.

Get a coated shaving blade. Smoother.
@MarkSzorady11 ай бұрын
@@RichardE62 Agree regarding the coted blade. Yes, it's a different approach and does take some getting used to. Several shaves are required to get the hang of it.:) It's definitely a YMMV kind of razor for sure.:)
