What a great adventure! In April I went Topaz hunting with a friend here in Utah. Those types of slopes are SUPER slippery! Glad you found some awesome stuff. Apparently the crystals (Topaz) fade in the bright sun exposure. I don't know if all crystals react in the same way. Stay safe and enjoy your trip!!!!

JD, You should bring some cleats with you next time you go there. I believe you would have safer footing with them. Glad you're still with us, man. The crystal you picked up at 12:02 in the vid, sure looks like it would make a nice stopper for one of my antique crystal par fume' decanters.

With that macro lens, we see all the details, which is great! I also enjoyed following that orange bug. It looked quite ferocious! This was fun, thanks, JD! I hope to see today's beauties displayed in all their glory very soon! Thanks, JD!

Nice video. BTW the "ant" at the end is actually a wingless wasp. They're called Velvet ants, or colloquially known as Cow Ants or Cow-Killer Ants. It is actually a wasp. The females are wingless and the males have wings. They bury dens in the ground, and usually live solo one or two at a place, but I have seen larger dens. And yes, you do NOT want to mess with them. They will Light You Up. Painful sting equivalent with yellow jacket or hornet type wasps. (yes, personal experience talking here, lol) Wish you were still making vids -- Good Luck in Life JD

We have cow killers where I live (TX) and you'd be blown away at the strength of their exoskeletons. You can put all your body weight on one and they'll just walk off unscathed. They're really hard to kill. Wicked stings on those little things too, I think they're near the top of the insect pain index

Keep your stones in a cool, dark place like a closet or drawer, etc..so that they will retain their color. If not, then they will lose color over the years, but you can sometimes revive them by doing this same thing...
