Thank you for this. It was a little late for me as I first assembled mine off repair manual pictures only, and missed the 360 deg plus 5 o'clock part (that your repeated for good measure). If you take those 360 deg away the car will run on 4 cylinders and have compression on all cylinders. It will just have compression on the right bank when the ecu is planning for TDC exhaust stroke. The starter also hates life because compression stroke on both banks are stacked together. Throws cam codes on the right bank. Your video cleared it up and I took it apart again knowing what I had messed up.

Great video and very detailed instructions gave me the confidence to do my own as well. I had one mistake and that was on Gen 3 cams there’s seals that need to be put on the cams. I totally missed them and was having issues with my cam timing with those seals missing the phasers wouldn’t hold oil pressure and my position B sensor was freaking out and shutting down VCT. I believe this only applies to Gen 3 motors, so if your reading this the video shows you step by step and I had no issues just those damn seals lol.

FYI in the Ford workshop manual it says to remove and discard all bolts that require replacement when it tells you to remove the bolts in each step such as the crank bolt and cam phaser bolts. However, they do not require replacement of cam cap bolts per the Ford workshop manual. Not sure as to why but I’m not an engineer. It doesn’t hurt to replace them but not required. I have never had any issues over the many years when working on these engines.

I am pretty sure I did the timing procedure correctly, but When I turn the engine over by hand I here a clanging sound that seams to be coming from front drivers side of engine. It sounds like its coming from timing cover area but its hard to tell. Unfortunately I only noticed this after I had the timing cover and valve covers back on. Is it normal to hear clanging or clacking coming from that area when turning engine over by hand? Any help would be appreciated
