Honestly I really like all the characters but Cate and Marie’s were the best especially when talking about how they discovered their powers and I love how Cate basically told her to blame her parents for what happened to them because it was their fault what happened to Marie she never got the choice to make and they didn’t even tell her so she freaked out twice when she started to bleed and when her powers started she probably was thinking she was dying. Marie’s parents chose to make a dollar by forcing her to take v as a baby. I hope Marie confronts her sister and tell her it was the parents fault and marie no longer blames herself entirely because it wasn’t her fault at all if anything the parents killed themselves as harsh as that sound’s it’s true.

In a lot of shows, Marie would be an annoying character. In "Gen V" everything she does is understandable and makes sense. It's another tv series where Eric Kripke's show running knows how to develop characters well.

@@baptistepg8707 Her apprehension to get involved with the main conflict of the show she’s the main character of, and the way she’s written kind of one dimensionally, She is going along with the Vought narrative of lies. Took credit for stopping Golden boy, and that he was a drug addict murderer that she stopped by herself. Then she rejected her roommate, when all she wanted to do was be friends. It’s understandable that she’s willing to go along with that narrative as she has everything to lose and can end up back in the system and almost did after they got her expelled. None of them were gonna do anything to help her out when she took the blame for almost killing a woman when it was Andre and all she did was save a life. Her roommate pushed her to go out and she wanted when she said she wanted to stay focused but she wasn’t being a dick about it and didn’t reject her until after the expulsion. So you can see where she’s coming from with her decisions to act like a puppet sometimes

⁠​⁠@@baptistepg8707She’s making all the wrong decisions. Luckily, she actually has halfway-good reasons for why she acts that way. They are not excuses but they explain enough. Like how there’s an actual reason she did not credit Jordan. She did not do that just because she’s petty or eeeeeevil. It was not right but understandable, at least, given the additional context the story has given. Not sure how much longer she can keep doing this though. It will start to rub audiences the wrong way soon enough so hopefully, she chooses a side soon.

This is the thing we don’t know if Marie is going to be a hero or a villain or an anti-hero. It is unclear how strong the super all get but I will assume if Max Homelander is a level 5 in strength and durability. Average supes and tail girl are like level 1 in both categories. I think the female Jordan is level 2 and male level 5. Human level 0 obviously, athlete 0.5ish.

Is it really just me who is not liking how predictable this episode was? It doesn't help that this is essentially a teenage drama, a genre I dislike purely for the fact that I don't watch any and still can predict exactly what happens. Maybe I just can't relate to the characters, I have never done drugs/seen them used so it feels off how literally EVERYONE is doing them (Though that is common in western shows). For what it is worth I have been enjoying the characters but stuff like the black haired girl using the shrink girl for views is so painfully cliché that it breaks all immersion for me

It is a show about 18-20-year-olds with superpowers in the age of boosting themselves one way or another, we're meant to see some of these cliché coming a mile away but for Emma, who it seems just wants any form of connection, over-sharing immediately wasn't an obvious mistake. WE know she's gonna get fucked over, SHE doesn't. Similar to Marie, WE know that Dean is shady but SHE'S finally being 'seen' by an older person who knows her full story and isn't casting her aside, but wants to help her rise (in her mind). Some things are not tropes to be subverted but embraced because, at its core, it's about 18 to 20-year-olds with deep issues.

I really like The Boys so I am willing to go along with this and see where it ends up. That said I do think I have a small but genuine issue with the widespread use of drugs, even if it is 'normal' for teens (something I have no knowledge on), I don't really like how normalized this show makes it seem. It low-key sends a message that it is okay for you to do them because everyone is doing them. All in all i think I just am not the ideal audience for this spinoff but I'll keep going

However, I will have to disagree with the “normalization“ of drug use… Drug use is normal and we already saw that they can have serious ramifications even if you are the wrong person a.k.a. Marie. But, since then, in that one episode, we’ve never seen them do drugs. All they’ve done is drink and smoke weed, if I’m not mistaken. They are going for the whole college experience. Once again, you are entitled to your own personal viewing experience and enjoyment however, it can’t normalize what’s already normal

Those powers are actually extremely dangerous Marie could probably turn most people, including supes into vegetables by preventing blood flow to the brain. Andre basically has Magneto's powers.
