You mentioned that he had lower energy - it was in fact raining and he was wearing high heels. When he closes that performance with Purple Rain - with the stage lit up all in purple neon, purple guitar and it was actually raining - I swear that was a bona fide Rock God Moment. Goosebumps - every time.

Your smile as ‘Purple Rain’ started was worth in gold the whole reaction. For those of us who have ‘some age’ on our backs, to see the younger generation enjoying music made with heart and soul and not by ghost producers pushing buttons and repeating the same songs over and over again with in a slightly different key, that's something I appreciate: not all is lost in a world of fast music, hordes of the same rappers and armies of cloned singers with the same hits. Thanks man! Prince played LIVE thou' it was raining hard. And he played not only his own music but a short history of music. He started the show with 'We Will Rock You' by Queen, he played two more songs identified by at least a couple of greatest artists. 'All Along The Watch Tower' wrote by Bob Dylan, made even more famous by Jimmi Hendrix. But he mixed this one with 'The Best' by Foo Fighters. He played his hit (from 'Purple Rain') 'Baby I'm A Star' and chained it to 'Proud Mary', wrote by Credence Clearwater Revival' (wich Tina Turner made her own). Peace!

Prince's approach to live shows varied from the early years to his mid-career and late career stages. He eventually needed double hip replacement surgery. So, rain or not, there was no jumping off the piano or multiple splits by 2007. Having said that, late-stage Prince had some of his best tours ever, IMO... 💜

And he did this all in the rain! Prince was wearing heels too, he always did! Super Bowl Half Times are bigger than the game and the artists are not paid to perform. It gives them so much free publicity and it is an honor to be selected as the artist to preform. They do give a budget to put the show on but the artists receives no pay. All Half Time Shows are amazing, you should react to some more of them. All the artists that have done Half Time shows put their best out there because they know they will be judged by previous Half Time shows, so they go all out! And that symbol on the stage was Prince's new name, Prince was his real name and his recording contract stated he could not make music under the name of Prince with out them taking a serious cut of his music revenue, so he changed his name to that symbol and was referred to as "The Artist Formerly Known as Prince". He also did a performance where he came out with "SLAVE" writen on his face as a protest to the recording companies.

At the time he did this halftime show he was significantly older in his 50's then he had been in the videos I've seen you react to and he had come from high energy performances to highly technical musical performances. He was a musical genius gone too soon. He could play every instrument and he had a few projects where sang every part and played every instrument on his album. This performance I could watch over and over again, he was at his best, fearless, he had it all together and he brought his A game for us all.

Prince is a legend, a maestro, and the most amazing performer ever! Low energy? Nah! Keep in mind, he's on a stage, in the rain, and in heels! He gave everything he had EVERY SINGLE performance!

This is the halftime show for the Super Bowl, the NFL finals. So a totally different ballgame than a normal halftime. This was the best ever.

And THAT is the magic of Prince….Been a stan since 1984, and I was chosen and was supposed to work the superbowl helping to carry equipment to the stage, and as a extra on the field during this performance (one of the people who look like they “storm the stage” lol..its all choreographed BTW) But MY CAR DIED, and I had no way to get to the rehearsals or stadium the date of the super bowl! I will forever be so heartbroken that I had a chance to be there, but missed this legendary once in a lifetime performance as a Prince fan. So glad that his music lives on, and is being shared with young people so they can see and hear his music, his spirit and his extraordinary talent. This halftime show will never be topped. EVER! He was a virtuoso, a gift and a blessing to this world. I will miss this beautiful man and his beautiful music until the day I die.💜☔🔮 Then Im Praying that when I get to the great beyond, there is music and concerts there. After I greet my Parents, siblings, and other family, the next words out of my mouth will be OK, what time is the Prince concert start? Lol His will be the first show, then The amazing Jeff Buckley…😮‍💨🙌😘❤

I was a teenager in the 80’s when Purple Rain came out. I teared up watching this halftime show as it happened and I tear up everytime I see it. Best halftime show ever and Prince was one of the greatest musicians/performers ever.
