I've been struggling with depression and gender disappointment for two years now. Despite loving my son dearly, I yearned for a daughter. At 44, with my husband not wanting more children, I'm finding it challenging to cope and move forward. My heart and mind are still adjusting to this unexpected path.Honestly, I'm struggling to accept our family dynamics. Two years ago, I welcomed another precious son, but my heart longed for a daughter. I had saved some of my barbies and dolls and princess books.Loving him unconditionally, yet grieving the loss of that daughter dream. It is natural but yes, I agree that some find it harder to get over than others. I love the boys names that you had and I'm so curious now what you'll come up with to name this sweet girl! @@SuzyDarling04 ok good! Yes, I did and it's completely understandable that your tastes change over time and even for some the gender determines what kind of name they want! Some prefer more traditional for boys but more non traditional for girls and/or visa versa! I personally like a mix of both. I'm probably less traditional with first names and more traditional with middle names. Such a huge variety and mix and the way it sounds together, etc. So much to consider!

I agree that girls are the underdog. Everyone wants a boy. Another thing that is disheartening is when people say, I don't care what the gender is as long as it's healthy. Like, are you going to love a baby any less if it has a medical condition? It's a terrible thing to say.

Imagine how I felt 40 odd years ago....my mother bought my unborn baby a vest, then added "It better be a boy now".... imagine how it felt. She had 4 boys and 3 girls...of which I was one. She obviously preferred boys more. It's odd I always wanted a girl... believe it or not, she would've been Alison Louise or Joelle ( because I worked with a french girl, and loved the name). The baby was a boy, and at the spur of the moment, after delivery, I called him Andrew. I only had girl names ready. ❤xx

I think it is sad when people express disappointment about other peoples babies gender. I also don't like it when people express negativity about women in their 30's or 40's having children and it happens A LOT. My daughter Sabrina is 35 and 20 weeks pregnant. She wasnt sure she could have babies for the longest time and finally got pregnant in May. It is a blessing. We started following you because she needed to not feel so alone and we love and appreciate your content. Thank You (Riley is a pretty girls name as well)

I like all those names. My youngest’s middle name is James. That was my Dad’s name and both mine were born in St. James Hospital in Leeds 🤷‍♀️ I was a childminder a few years ago and one of my little ones was Jude. He’s 15 now. Some people like to wait till baby’s born and then decide what their name will be. I like Sofia and Scarlett, Olivia. I like Izzy too, apparently that name means a gift from God - amongst others. Hi Suzy, I have 2 sons Thomas William ‘Tom’ he’s 32 and William Jack ‘Will’ he’s 30. William has over the years been Billy, as a little boy, so cute! and Bill, but since secondary school he’s been Will, and he is a 6ft 6 Rugby player! I actually wanted Jack for my second, but hubby let me choose the first, Tom, so we compromised (!) and had William Jack. I actually hated the name William originally and was desperately hoping it was a girl…but when he arrived, I don’t know what happened, but I fell in love with the name, luckily!! Incidentally, Thomas and William were both our grandfathers names, but we actually chose them just because we loved them. We wanted traditional names. Will has 2 beautiful daughters Emelia and Mathilda (mostly called Tilly).

Hi Suzy it makes me sad when people are disappointed about gender, especially other people’s. I have 3 boys so I had that quite a bit, I never found out the gender with my first two, because I was just so blessed to have them. My 3rd I found out because my other two was set on a girl and I didn’t want them disappointed when baby was born (they’re Autistic so change can be difficult). I have a couple of experiences of people being a holes. Your name list was lovely, I found boys names easier than girls names, which do you find easier? Am sure your girls list will be lovely to, but I think you should keep the name private for you and Ash, people can comment on it then put you off and a baby’s name is such a personal thing protect it until little one is here to be introduced. How are you feeling , are you still out of breath? The ball is good for posture to help with breathing, well it helped me anyway. Big hugs x

What I was told was the first name and surname together ideally should have five syllables total as it all just sounds and flows better and as you were saying about your unusual surname it’s maybe something to think about. I thought your list of boys names were very trendy. Jack has been in top three names for years now and I think most of the other names like Harry and George are in top 50. Maybe look at film star names and book characters as they’re mostly made up but sound good as a lot of thought goes into creating those names. Also look at the running titles on programmes for a good list of names coming at you. I’m guessing you’re sold on your girls name already but maybe these ideas are useful for middle name(s). Or for people in comments looking for names 😂 It’s great fun choosing… 💗
