Nothing to do with being rich except maybe the smart one. It's like this young one, whatever or whoever you are, I am, we are prisoners in these bodies until we die. So smart people realize that being forced to physically suffer for years basically ends your life as you know it. 75%, or more, of the time in your days and freedom in-your-head-to enjoy whatever you enjoy in life will be replaced by pain, drugs for relief, doctor visits, struggles with depression frequent trips to the emergency room, etc etc etc. And this happens to a lot of people, 10s of millions in the USA alone. Smart people, thru their evolved sense of empathy, realize that avoiding things that will ruin your life is amoung the most important of life skills. Obviously if your passion is for skydiving off mountains you free climbed, you may still do dumb things as a calculated risk since nothinh else in life matters. But most people take these dumb risks everyday for no real benefit except beating some stranger to the next red light. Catching covid is a dumb thing because not being able to breath normal for months, or the rest of your life, would really suck. Apparently there are a lot more stupid people in the world than many of us assumed prior to the pandemic.... people so stupid they haven't figured out their shallow ego requires a healthy physical body.
