I gained so much respect for Gene while listening to him describing his introspective epiphany which lead him to change his mind, heart and habits for the people he loves most. That's true courage and strength, good on you Gene.

Gene Simmons is just the best. I love KISS' music and would love to watch him perform but, even more than that, I wish I could just sit down and talk with him for hours. I grew up without a father until I discovered him 3 years ago at age 50, coincidently also learning that I was 50% Jewish. He was 85 and I was only able to meet him and talk to him twice before he passed, but we were kindred spirits. I think Gene reminds me of him. Maybe that's it....I wish I could have had more time to talk with the father I barely knew and I feel like I could have the same meaningful conversations with Gene. What an interesting person.

Gene Simmons talking about the struggles of being raised by only his single working class mom, and then Bill bringing up his version of the "same" struggle, but talking about getting dumped by a girl in school; really showcases the difference between the Native born American and immigrant experience

I am part of my father. He was extremely mean to me. Made fun of my disability, my weight and everything. I have a temper I wonder why. I have been in therapy for 40 years. I'm 60 and have extremely enjoyed listening to Gene. He is so pleasant and Intelligent.

I'm proud of Gene for not wanting to hurt women like his dad did, so he just slept with a lot of them, and never gave them the commitment many of them undoubtedly wanted. Using women for sex illustrates how you care about them. In my opinion.

You want a father that is there, even a not so perfect one... if even for a season... because then you have a plum line to use in your life of what you do or don't want to become. Obviously there are outliers, but generally... it is a blessing to have the experience. יהךה (YeHoVaH) will use it for good in the end.

His father remarried and stayed married, also having other children. I believe his mom might have done something. His father preferred to take the high road and left. Gene most likely inherited his mom genes. When he died Gene cried like a baby, I believe he found out what really happen. His dad stayed faithful to his second wife and children. Does not fit the profile of a neglecting husband or father.
