I bought a used 2011 Class A about a year ago and I've been very happy with it. About 8 months ago, I needed one of the leveling jacks replaced. I went to a large local RV dealer with a big repair center, and they asked if I had purchased the unit from them. I said no, but I was looking to create a relationship with a repair center for the long haul. They literally told me they were not interested in servicing the RV. I told them our company owns it and we're prepared to spend whatever it takes to keep it in top condition. Nope. They didn't want to even look at it. I noticed their service department only had 1 of their 5 bays occupied and I asked why they wouldn't want the business. Nope...didn't matter. So, I found a much smaller RV dealer who was excited to provide service on it. They mostly sell trailers, but the guy who owns the place has been in the RV business for 30 years and assured me they could replace the jack. The jack cost $650 from Lippert and he said he would need to order it...or I could just order it. So, I did, and I had it shipped to their place. The owner then called me a few weeks later and asked if 4 hours of labor at $155/hour was fair. I couldn't believe it and said YES!!! They did a great job on it, and I've since had it back for more than $4,500 of other work. I own a company and I totally respect the approach and the commitment from this smaller dealer. They do a great job at a fair price. Ironically, the other dealer who refused to work with me called me a month ago to let me know they had available appointments. I asked the guy if they were very busy, and he said they were not. I literally laughed and said...I'm not surprised. Tell your owner to enjoy the ride down and in his next business, he may want to be more open to helping people from all walks. They are now advertising locally on television with huge discounts on inventory that they can't sell. If the larger dealer's owner knew anything about the automotive/RV business, he would know that service centers are a great profit center for their business and his bays would be full at all times! Plus, whenever someone comes in to drop off or pick up their RV, it represents a great opportunity to show them the new inventory. Sales 101.

I CAN'T get over what General RV did at Hershey Show two years ago with the price changes at the show. One price on Wednesday, a $5000 to $10000 increases by Friday. I was a buyer at the time, and I was completely DISGUSTED with what they did. Now, I walk right past General RV dealers at shows. I'll overpay before I buy from them. NIRVC is my next dealer.

During Covid you could literally have a motorhome in stock and the next ones coming in could be higher due to a supplier price increase. We experienced it with a coach and four dealers told me there was a $30k chassis price increase. NIRVC in Lawrenceville GA is a joke. We went 5o look at coaches there and it was a major disappointment. Sales guys told multiple stories, ( lies ) about pricing and we just d2cided to look elsewhere. Three months later they still have the motorhome we were interested in.

Here in southern Wisconsin/Northern Illinois the local dealer gobbler upper is Kunes RV ( " Que-ness" ) As they get bigger, they are unfortunately taking on the persona of other mega store franchises. And service is the same disorganized jungle of promises and disconnected phone calls. Sadly, this is the land of RV ownership. Send one of your kids to RV technical school so you might have a chance to get your RV fixed in under 60 days.

Hi Izzy & MJ! Thank you as always for your informative and updating videos. I'm so sad to see all these little mom and pop dealers get bought out by these large corporations. We really need the little guys too! Our small dealer in southern NJ is still hanging on, they have 2 locations and they seem to be doing well but who knows, really. And I'm wondering if these larger corporations think that buying all these smaller dealers is a good business move, if the RV industry is struggling as a whole, the more you buy, the more you are responsible for. Our local, one of them was acquired by Bish’s Rv they are expanding quite a bit. From the Upper West of the country. They own probably 4 or 5 now in Michigan in the last few years. Nothing like the big ones General, etc

We have had two RV dealers move into town, one outside of town consolidate to one location and one where the owner passed away, be acquired by a regional chain in OK expanding it and adding inventory. Both the new ones in town have service and customization shops too.

I don't know how this dealership got a 4 out of 5, stars, more like 1 as far as I am concern. Especially service, which would be 0 my coach spent 5 months at Wixom for recall items from Aug. 7,2023 til January 2024 into the winter. I was back and forth with Rev about the delay. So the rest of my summer shot, so while at this dealership I needed it to be winterized due too the delay. So upon my inspection in May 2024 I found water in the Water Heater, and a cracked water filter cover. In addition all recall items were not completed. I have planned camping trips all summer and I need this rectified. Its a shame you work hard for what you want for it too be disregarded by others. James E Payne III

I considered buying an RV about 3 months ago and started doing my research. As of last week I've pretty much abandoned my efforts. There were way too many potential pain points involved with getting into an RV, especially for something that priced so high. I plan to continue to watching the industry to see if it improves to the point where there is better assurance purchasing and owning is more affordable with fewer pitfalls.

Hahaha Izzy is so 🤣🤣🤣. Love the merch!!! Love the idea of donating to rescue centers. I would not go to General RV. I rate them the same as Camping World. There is a couple of smaller dealerships close to us here in South East Louisiana that are very good with good reputations and people come from all over to buy from them. They are Berryland and Steve's RV. I know Berryland is doing well and hope Steve's is also.

we are new to RV'ing and the locally owned dealership we bought our new toy hauler from got sold to LazyDays just weeks after our purchase. It was hard to find that out. I texted our salesperson (who btw, still checks on us) to see if he was still there. Due to family stuff, he ended up moving back to TN from AZ. But, he still plans on going back to the same RV dealer (now LazyDays) after resolving his family stuff and resuming his sales career there. He also mentioned that Lazydays kept all the original staff (for now at least). So, hopefully they maintain the level of excellent customer service that existed before they acquired them. I've haven't needed them for any warranty work or service yet, so WHEN I do, Im crossing fingers that excellent customer service is still there.

I am really not sure for 100%. It may just be a rumor but our local RV center for the last 40 years known as Barber RV I’ve heard is closing their doors. I was in their parts department several weeks ago and more than half of the racks of inventory were empty, also the units on display are dwindling down as well but again, I’ve only heard this through the grapevine. we are located in Ventura California on the West Coast Thomyt

Horrified but can't say that I'm surprised. We had our coach in at Independence a few short weeks ago for service. We bought our 2020 4369 DS from them and have been very happy with their knowledge and service. The lot was overflowing with new Newmar coaches. I remarked to my wife when we saw all of the new stock that, given the tough times the RV industry is going through I wouldn't be surprised if they were acquired by one of the big chains. Sad but understandable. We'll have to see what effect this has on their customer relations.

I purchased a brand new 5th wheel from General RV in Utah in April 2023 and I was not happy with the walk thru and service afterwards for problems discovered during walk thru. They never check out or do a PDI on their units. I would never buy from General RV again.

being a builder, a vans, school buses, and having renovated a few campers, and even three class a RVs, I will tell you. I can build much more robust, much more stable, and much more durable living accommodations for all the road than any RV company there is. even Prevost is junk. It lasts for about three years and wanted decides to go south, it’s so far south that your $250,000 for a 15-year-old Prevost is wasted. Spend $20,000 on a school bus build, and did last year 20 years unless you get bored with it.

Hi Guys I want to be guy to tell u the positive side. I just got home from picking up my new Grand Design 295RL I bought a General RV in Wayland MI THE WHOLE STAFF there went out of there way . When I was doing my walk through we discovered a problem Kevin the service manager was hands on with his staff and went out of his way. Randy our salesman Tammy the delivery coordinator Everyone at the west MI store treated like gold. Just wanted u to hear some good. And yes i feel we where treated fair on our trade in and what we paid for our new one

The market is saturated with Rvs of all kinds. I believe the retail industry is headed for a sustained freefall over the next three years. Why? Because there has been a confluence of several factors, most mentioned here, with the final one being shoddy final product at the factories.

$265.00 an hour for an RV Service Technician is a ridiculous rate. People should boycott them….but I know they won’t. It seems that most people could care less about others. The RV Industry has become obsessed with greed. We bought our unit in January of 2019. Prices have gone up disproportionately to wages and the quality. RVs are crap to start with. Since Covid the quality became much worse. Waiting times for service work is almost unbearable for those that live in their RVs. It wouldn’t bother me one bit if the entire industry collapsed. It would serve them right for what they’ve created….in my opinion. Thank you for what you do most of the time.

General RV in Richmond sucks. They make me feel like they think I’m a criminal every time I walk in there. That I could deal with if they did their part. Their service dept sucks as well. I could go on with details but let’s just say out of the 3 years and 2 rvs I’ve purchased from them I’ve spent about one year of that with my rvs in the shop.

Alan from the RV show USA makes this point all the time about RV dealers that you can trust!!! It's not a good place in America and God Bless us all that we can stand strong and see this threw!!!!

We bought an rv from General Rv in Tampa, the WORST experience we’ve ever had. Their tactics and over charge on fees are ridiculous. The person who did our walk through after the sale had never been in our type of rv and didn’t even know how to operate it. It’s sad to see them buying up reputable dealers.

General RV has very poor business practices. They hit us with an upcharge less than a month from delivery. I probably should sue them. Praying on Senior Citizens. Don’t buy from General RV. The person doing the close out paperwork was rude among other things. Their final inspection was poor at best.
